In a city badly in need of quality western hotels, the Nikko is a welcome addition. I have stayed at the Renaissance and Sheraton and the Nikko is far superior. It is relatively new and has all of the amenities of a 5-star hotel. Contemporary styling, great linens, flat screen TV and the largest shower I have ever seen in a hotel. I have stayed three times now on the executive floor and have been very happy there. It is connected to a shopping mall that includes Starbucks, McDonalds and KFC for your convenience. Across the street is Isetan department store. The price is great. You can even get a better price on ctrip.com.
The only negatives are the mattresses which are on the firm side and the bar is very, very quiet.

This is the third time that I've stayed here. Before staying, we had been a guest of the Mayor of Tianjin for being a business partner in this fast growing city and he had the evening's entertainment put on at the hotel.
Very modern and managed by the Nikko chain from Japan, it's one of the newest in Tianjin. Location is good, near the main business area as well as places to eat. The rooms are fairly large as is the bath area. Lighting is excellent and the controls are all by touch relay. The desk setup is excellent with broadband and lots of plugs. Ample storage as well as flat panel TV, mini bar and a/c/heat which actually responds to the controls. The hotel between rooms is quiet but there continues to be construction in the area. Not 24/7 but they start around 6am. This is nothing unusual for China and will likely continue at this hotel for another year as the area is developed.
The check-in is on 7 while the executive check in is on an even higher floor. There's a coffee shop on the ground floor and the executive floor has the usual breakfast and happy hour set up. I've eaten at the Chinese restaurant and while the food is good, the kitchen is slow. Check-in and check-out can also be erratic but most of these issues are from the newness of the hotel and staff. The level of English capability is quite high for those that care.

I stayed in Nikko Tianjin for one night . The hotel is new . The location is very good . The construction in the neighborhood is not totally finished . However the rooms are very good . Spacious and comfortable . The bathroom is big and convenient . The breakfast is suitable for both Western and Far East travellers having all kind of dishes .
Overall , I am very satisfied and would like to stay in this hotel again and would suggest this hotel for the travellers to Tianjin together with Renaissance Hotel .
