Mid-range conference-type hotel

I stayed at the Nikko for a conference (that took place in the hotel) for 4 nights in June 2008. It's a mid-range place that's getting a bit faded, but is fairly central and has a nice pool.
In terms of my room: it was large, esp. the bathroom, but was beginning to get a little ragged around thge edges. The major criticism though would be the slap-dash nature of the housekeeping: they routinely only provided only towels for one, when the room was clearly housing two people; there were facecloths provided on day one, but none were provided for the rest of our stay; the carpet was never vacumed while we stayed (and didn't appear as if it had been for some time before). Also, slippers were provided, but no robes; it was unclear whether this was an oversight or that the hotel simply doesn't provide the latter.
In terms of in-room services: tea and coffee making facilities were provided as was a mini-bar. There was also an iron and ironing board in the closet.
We had breakfast each morning. It was buffet-style and included a selection of hot and cold foods, both Asian and Western. The buffet was cleared away quite early on some mornings, however (c.10.30am).
The Nikko has a number of in-house restaurants. The buffet restaurant (where breakfast is served), a nice Chinese restaurant, also a Japanese restaurant, 'English Pub,' and lobby Cafe.
In-room Internet access is not wireless, but necessitates use of a cable (provided). It costs approx. ?12 per 24 hours and is pretty slow.
My favourite aspect of this hotel was the outdoor pool, which is located on the roof of the fifth floor. It's got some nice greenery surrounding it, plenty of tables, chairs and loungers, and is generally deserted!
Finally, the Nikko is in walking distance of KLCC--the best route is through the park-- and there is a bus stop right out front that is on the route of the KL hop-on-hop-off tour bus.

I was attending a seminar at the hotel and the organizer booked use there
the hotel enviroment was very relaxing, service was above avrage the conciarge were always willing to help. Rooms were surprising large so was the bathroom. with seprate shower and bath.
I was glad there wasnt that many family tourist.
location wise it was a 10 min walk from KLCC (twin towers shoppingcenter) which was convinant, and right next to the hotel there was a traditional malya resturant which i would advise to try out.
I wouldrecommend this hotel

This hotel is much improved over my last stay a few years ago, when the service was dire. Only booked it this time as it was the only place nearish KLCC that my travel agent could get me into at reasonable rate at very short notice.
The hotel has recently been renovated and the rooms have been very well done out, including a feature I always like - a sofa. The rooms are also a very good size.
Not sure if this hotel has changed management but service has had serious boot up the arse from a few years back, generally was very good and friendly.
Did notice the managerial level staff pointing the more junior staff in the right direction more than once though which makes me think the change in management is relatively recent.
Criticisms would be the gym is rather basic, and location is ok but not great.

I am pleased with the services and room provided for me.I believe those who have been to Nikko KL will agreed with me that the buffet brakfast was marvellous..the food was nicely presented with wide variety (although it might be rather expensive for a middle- income like me). I love the breakfast so much that I still can remember it until now.the service at the restaurant where I have my breakfast was so good that I really must complimemt the staffs. They are trully profesional and undestand the meaning of quality service. Both my husband and me will go back to Nikko if we have the chance. Great!
