Upon arrival at Hanoi, I can't help but feel lost. Its culture of Oriental charm meets French opulence meets Communist simplicity left me perplexed.
Hotel Nikko calmed my tension-filled nerves. The property provided comfort to a very confused traveler. Its staff are trained to accommodate Japanese tourists and businessmen.
My room was spacious and inviting. The restaurant served authentic Japanese cuisine. Their concierge recommended a knowledgeable tour guide who introduced me to Hanoi's sites, sounds and shopping spots.

I stayed at Hotel Nikko during business visit to Hanoi. It was my second stay at this property and I came out as satisfied guest like my earlier experience.
Rooms are clean, large size and there is everything which one needs in hotel.
However, amenities provided in bathroom are not up to 5 star standards.
I will definitely stay again in this hotel.

A nice Japanese hotel in a noisy, dirty city!

The Nikko has a beautiful lobby which is impressive upon entry, not too grand or pretentious. The rooms are nice and well lit and the bathrooms are very accommodating with amenities galore. It was a nice hotel to stay in since it was booked by a touring company. The restaurants are good, the hotel and lobby are clean and the staff is gracious and courteous...unlike most of Hanoi, which is crowded, noisy and dirty!

Nice hotel with very few Americans

My friend and I could not get into the Sofitel and opted for the Nikko. While a bit out of the center I was actually pretty happy with the place. Although the Sofitel is a much more refined and luxurious hotel, the Nikko also lacks one more thing which makes it so so lovely to me, annoying Americans. Don't get me wrong, I am an American, but you know the type, the ones stacked into a tour bus looking for a Starbucks. Rough. The Nikko on the other hand is a Japanese hotel with mostly Japanese guests, much to my liking. The breakfast was delish, both Vietnamese Pho and Japanese style breakfast. The staff was helpful, not always perfect, but very attentive. For example, we booked a non-smoking room and when it was not available they upgraded us to a suite asap. Gym was so so as was the pool. But all in all a decent place to stay.

Prior to staying at Hotel Nikko, I was hesitant based on the mixed reviews in this forum. However, when I got there, I was completely amazed because the hotel is far better than what some people had described! I wondered if I had read the wrong reviews!!
The staff speaks impeccable English. The rooms were clean and all furnishings are in great condition. While not new, they are not very old at all. Linens, towels, and amenities were on par with Hotel Nikko's standards.
The location is good as the rooms face not so busy (relatively speaking) streets. Easy cab ride to most attractions. Breakfast buffet was OK, better than most. The Japanese restaurant was incredible, while expensive, was packed with Japanese business men (which was a good sign). The pool / health club was OK. Overall a good hotel for tourist and business folks alike.
