i really thought this place was terrible especially for the money they charge!! the room hasnt been renovated in 25 years! check in was a disaster and the people incredibly rude as they obviously just deal with tours. The restaurants where unbelievably over priced ie 17.00 for a salmon bagel! in alaska!
the rooms verged on being disgusting and obviously the hvac system hasnt been repaired in years. Really really poor choice and if i hadnt been so stupid to prepay i would have moved out in a new york minute.
the hotel is a dump and certainly the pictures they show definitely dont reflect the hotel property.
really a disappointing experience and an expensive one!!

Stayed one night in January. Front desk staff was great, very professional and friendly. The rooms are not worth the price they charge, they are clean but everything was run down and worn out I was disappointed, I'd stay again only if they dropped the price to reflect the rooms

The hotel itself is okay. The location is good, right on Spenard Lake and very close to the airport. We stayed here for one night, post cruise and booked our stay on their website for $125 a night. When we checked in, although there were only three people in line ahead of us, it took 25 minutes to get our room key. When they printed our registration card, it had a rate of $185 instead of $125. I had to dig for our confirmation in order for them to adjust the rate. Our registration card also listed a Mississippi address. When I informed them I lived in Illinois and this was not the information that I entered online, they insisted I was incorrect and that must be my business address. (I don't work in Mississippi either!) I gave them the corrected information, yet when I received my final invoice at check out, this was still not corrected. I only have to guess that some Mississippian is receiving a bill with an Illinois address now. :)
There was no hotel conceirge... the front desk wouldn't make restaurant reservations for us. They pointed us to a restaurant directory and told us to call using our cellphone. Not the kind of service I expect from a Millenium property. Furthermore, we used their lobby computer to check in for our flight on Alaska Airlines only to find out the printer was broken after we checked in, thus we couldn't print our boarding passes.
What is the most disappointing is that I wrote to the Millenium corporate office once we returned, and I failed to receive any type of response or acknowledgement.
If you're looking for a no frills hotel experience and the rate is good, then stay here. If you're expecting a full service facility, check into one of the nicer properties in the area.

Went for a conference held in this hotel. The hotel offered 24 hour airport shuttle service, but you have to call in advance. We were told the shuttle will be in the gathering area within 5 minutes, but we still ended up waiting over 15 minutes. It turns out the hotel is only one mile away from the airport.
I shared a room with a colleague, who was scheduled to arrive in Anchorage about 2 hours earlier than my flight. Since the room was reserved under my name, I called the hotel to add her name to my reservation. At that time, I was given a new reservation number, which I gave her when she boarded the plane.
Then when I arrived, I was told she has not checked in. But ridiculously, her name was in the system – just not under my reservation. After a long period of time sorting everything out at the front desk, I managed to have my name added to her reservation instead. Later on when I asked, she told me the front desk cannot locate my reservation record either with the old or with the new reservation number.
The room was supposed to be non-smoking – they even required me to sign a form to guarantee that I won’t smoke during my stay. Instead, the entire room smells as if the entire army of smokers has dropped by. The carpet, both on the hallway and the room, was stained and dated.
And the hallway to my room was the weirdest thing I have ever seen. You virtually need 5-10 minutes from the lobby area to your room. The hotel only has 4 floors. But it takes forever for the elevator to get from one floor to another.
Forget about the internet. There is a wireless in the lobby, and cable in the room. They charge about $9 to provide you a cable, something I have only seen in European countries. Then when my colleague tried to connect, she received an error message. A technician was called. But he could not solve the problem. The explanation we were offered: since the room was under two names, the cable network cannot figure it out; hence the error message.
Next evening, I went to the front desk and asked if I can use the wireless in the lobby since the cable in the room did not work. I was given a courtesy password and was able to log in. But that was about it. I was only able to check 2 messages and then I was no longer able to connect to my email account.
The entire lobby was decorated with “stuffed” animals such as bears and goats, shielded in the huge glass cases on the wall (by the way, the lobby also has skins/furs of various other Alaskan animals on display in glass case as well). During the short period of my stay in the corner of the lobby trying fanatically to connect to any network, there were constantly people posing behind me in front of these poor once-living beings for photos.
Do not bother with the hotel photos. When I arrived, I thought the driver took me to the wrong spot. The hotel itself looks more like a rundown motel.
The hotel also claimed on their website that they offer complimentary shuttle service to downtown Anchorage. Well, there is only one shuttle at 11:00 AM. When we arrived at the lobby before 11:00 AM as we were told, there was no sight of the shuttle: it took off because it was already full. And no, there is no other shuttle available. We were not the only passengers left alone in the lobby.
On the day of checking out, we were told that the room charge can be split between the two of us, but the receipt can only have one name. Neither of us could believe our ears. Furthermore, "no, the receipt cannot even show the name of the credit card holder who paid the part of the bill." The reason: "on the computer screen, there is only room for one name."
My colleague asked: is it possible that you print out one receipt with one name, and then before you print out another receipt, change the name? It eventually worked. So based on that scenario, my colleague should be more qualified as front desk agent than the guy behind the front desk who was supposed to be trained with hotel services.
It is really a mistake to even stay in this place.

This hotel worked well for the first night of our trip. Our eight hour flight landed around 9 p.m, and after the long wait at the rent car counter, I was glad this hotel was very easy to locate. (I also noticed their airport shuttle van at least twice while traversing at the airport.) The check-in clerk was friendly and efficient. The King room I reserved was approx. 450 sq ft., very clean, the decor pleasent. The walk to the room was long, but I was sonambulating by then, so I didn't really notice on the way in. When checking out in the morning, I did a scan of the considerable taxidermy in the lobby, and took a walk around back to check out the float planes. I felt this started the trip with a good illustration of the Alaska ethos. Caveat: Not a good choice for PETA members.
