Cenral location near Cathedral Square and overlooking Victoria Park. Although it's on a main road there was no problem with noise during our stay. The reception staff were very helpful and happy to park our car in the free car park for us.. We arrived before our room was ready, but they stowed our luggage and directed us to a Sunday craft market they thought we might like to visit. When we were there several tour groups were using this hotel, so breakfast was a bit hectic at times. We had a spacious, comfortable room overlooking the park. Overall, this is a good place to stay in the city centre, although some areas of the hotel may need updating soon.

This was the last hotel of a New Zeraland Tour and it was SO central you could not ask for more. We arrived on the day of Sir Edmund Hilary's Funeral, so there people in the town centre and a big TV screen to watch the proceedings. The following day it was business as usual for the Internatiomal Street Busker Festival.(Different and entertaining)

We stayed here for 3 nights.
Car parking is free and they park your car for you.
The room was a basic but comfortable. We had tried to book a superior room but there were none available so weren't expecting much. The room was better than expected.
The hotel is located a couple of blocks from Cathedral Square and has a small park opposite.
If you walk through the park and carry on down Oxford Terrace you will come to some restaurants and bars which are very good.
Breakfast was good - a typical Copthorne buffet. Because of our bad experiences in other Copthorne hotels with evening meals, we decided to eat out every night so didn't try any of the evening menus.
If you are only spending a few nights in Christchurch this hotel is good for the price you pay.

This hotel was perfectly located for walking into the central of Christchurch (only a couple of minutes away). It was located on the main street but the road was quiet and didn't cause a problem. Our room was a standard double and was very spacious and ideal for our 3 night stay with our room overlooking Victoria Square and the River Avon. In the centre of our room was an enclosed drinks making area with its own sink and mini bar. Breakfast in the restaurant was disappointing though with a buffet style choice and average service. The reception staff were good though and most helpful. Pay-as-you-go internet access was readily available on the four computers in the reception area.

We were pleasantly surprised with our stay at the Copthorn. We were upgraded to a better room with no extra charge and the staff was extremely friendly. There was a small problem with our bill and the staff handled the problem immediately, professionally and with courtesy. The hotel is located a short walk to the downtown shopping and restaurants. Get a coupon or two from the hotel to eat at the casino across the street. Each coupon is worth $5 and they may be combined.
