Clean and comfortable

This hotel is a nice place to stay when traveling with your spouse and/or children. It is clean and comfortable. After reading all of the reviews about this hotel, I was expecting a tiny room, but our room was exactly the same size as every other similarly-priced hotel room we have ever stayed in, and we do a LOT of traveling! I was happy to discover that the size of the room was just fine. I would have taken a picture of the room to post here, but we were too pressed for time. The staff was very polite and helpful! The pool looks great, but we didn't have time for a swim. We enjoyed the breakfast, which goes way beyond "continental!" They have quite a variety of foods to choose from, and the breakfast room is comfortable and cozy! There were two things I really liked about the room that was different that most I've stayed in. One was that I couldn't hear people talking in the rooms that were adjacent to ours. That was a relief! Also, the room didn't have that stale smell that so many hotels have these days. It was very clean! We enjoyed our stay, and we plan to stay there again on our next road trip up Interstate 5. I would recommend it to my friends.
Very clean and good breakfast

Our soccer team stayed there this past weekend. We had 13 rooms for two nights. We found the the staff friendly, rooms clean and breakfast was good. The pool was very nice too. Everyone seemed to enjoy their stay and we only had a couple families complain about some other guests coming in real late and talking in the halls. However, that can happen at any hotel. Overall, the hotel was very quiet considering the number of families who were staying there with kids for the tournament. We enjoyed our stay and would stay there again with the team. Breakfast items included cereal, pastries, bagels, toasts, jams and cream cheese, yogurt, juice, coffee, tea, apples and make your own waffles. Plenty to choose from and worked for us. It was always well stocked, too. I guess the only negative thing was the beds were doubles, not queens. The rooms were smaller than some rooms we have stayed in. However, they were not extremely small. They were fine - similar size to a Motel 6 room or slightly bigger. It was a great weekend at Amerihost.
Rooms are small

We didn't know where to stay when we landed in Redding, but came upon this hotel and it looked nice, rather new, from the outside so we gave it a try. I was told it has only been there about 4 years. Very nice lobby with pool adjacent, and friendly staff. The room was clean, had no bad smells, and we encountered no problems, but the room was very small. The bathroom felt especially small. There was no micro fridge or microwave, but there was a small coffee maker. The price was right at about $80, and it was in a good location, not far from a shopping center with a couple of restaurants. The free breakfast was nice: waffles, cold cereal, muffins, fruit, yogurt, donuts, bagels. The beds were average, not especially comfortable, but not terrible either. There wasn't a great selection of channels on the TV.
If you are familiar with AmeriSuites, this is NOT the same hotel. I stayed at AmeriSuites in Colorado about 3 years ago and thought it was great. It had a kitchenette, couch, etc.
We didn't have any problems at this hotel, but I would rather stay in a more spacious room. It felt very cramped.
wish it was a better experience

we were traveling across the US and Redding,CA was our first stop. we
are a family of 6 and were excited about the "family room" option of 3 double beds. Tammy booked us and was very friendly and efficient. However, when we checked into our room, I found that there was hair in the tub and sink. the sink & toilet were dirty and the light cover
in the bathroom was off. In the am, I spoke with Tammy who promptly offered a discount & said she'd make a note of the discrepancies. suggestion: offer portable cribs for families. On the plus side: 24hr
pool with a wading pool, the fact that they offer family rooms.

Stayed one night on a drive to SF from Oregon. Pretty easy to find and about a mile from the big mall in town and restaurants. Facility was pretty full of a lot of kids in baseball and soccer teams but other than the pool being rather crowded, it was not noisy.
Main reason for us staying was the indoor pool, which was clean and gave the kids a good break from the car.
Rooms are pretty small, but there are five of us which makes the room seem smaller. The two beds are full size rather than queen and they had no roll aways. (we had an air mattress and sleeping bad for this contingency and we were crammed in.
Price was good, breakfast had the normal continental plus make your own waffles.
I would recommend.
