The Microtel in Sioux Falls is a great bargain. It is certainly nicer than other budget chains I have visited. If you're looking for clean, no frills accommodations, this is the place for you.
Positives: clean room, huge bathroom, window seat, fridge and micro, adequate breakfast, secure outside doors, quiet, comfy mattress, elevator in good working order, location convenient to I-29, low rocker lightswitches would be handy for people in wheelchairs
Negatives: website only allows you to book one room at a time, front desk clerk was unable to fulfill my request for a room on the back side of the motel, only four tables in the breakfast room made it rather crowded
One thing I didn't understand: The front desk quoted me a price of $65 per night. The chain website quoted me $65 a night also for one person, but quoted $55 a night for three people in one room. Not sure why this is. I called the front desk and asked why three people per room was cheaper than one person. They denied having a $55 rate at all. I went back to the web and reserved the room at the three person rate of $55.

I have stayed at this hotel before (approximately 1 year ago) and it was o.k, but this time it was absolutely terrible! There was filth, dirt, hair, blood stains and who knows what else over the entire room. I would never reccomend this place - ever!

We often stay at this hotel when traveling through Sioux Falls. It is convienent and quiet, despite the proximity to the interstate. The breakfast is usually decent with cereals, toast, etc plus the waffle maker. Juice and coffee also. Would be nice to have some fresh fruit available.
Special note: This was the first time we stayed in a room with only 1 queen bed. This room was TINY!! I was expecting an easy chair or something else. We probably had too many people in the room. We figured our 3yr old could sleep in the window seat since that's where he always wants to sleep anyway. Unfortunately, the window was broken and wouldn't shut all the way, and it was COLD out that night, so he ended up in bed with my husband and I. Our 1yr old was in a pack and play, which by the time we set up, left hardly enough room to walk.
So, basic run-down. It's a nice place if all you want is a bed to crash in and breakfast in the morning. But, spend the extra $10 to get a regular room with two beds, unless you are a single person.

The Microtel is everything you need for a great price. The room was basic but was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was great. The staff was friendly.
It is located near 41st Street and the Empire Mall and other shopping, just off of I-29. The only problem is making a left turn onto 41st Street or crossing it, but you can easily get to a stop light a two blocks away via a side street.
