High Quality and Convenience!!

I pay 90$ a room here per night. At this price I am getting all the convenience of staying in a hotel that is smack bang in the heart of Hamra in Beirut and so close to everything. The room is always very clean and tidy. The service is exceptional now that they know my name every time I enter the lobby. The food for breakfast is standard but very pleasant. Of course its not 5 star but who cares. I have stayed at most 5 star hotels in Beirut but I always keep coming back here, its just so easy!
Loved the room & location

*Stayed 2 times in this hotel. First time was in a Royal Club Room, other time was in a Business Suite. Rooms are modern and fully equipped. The bathrooms were in both rooms a bit outdaded and might need refurbishment.
*The Royal Club Room was due to the bad situation in Lebanon (low bookings) unfortunately closed.
*Swimming pool is cosy & great.
*Location is great: In the middle of student area Hamra. Shops, bars, restaurants all around the hotel.
*In comparisation to the Four Points in Le Verdun the staff at Le Meridien are more helpful and kind!

OK hotel - room needed refurbishment as furniture and fittings were looking a bit tired. Breakfast was pretty average. Location was fine. Nice lobby and relaxing bar with friendly staff. Probably wouldn't stay here again although overall, we loved our stay in Beirut. The upside was the hotel's deal with the best gym/swimming pool complex in town. Whilst in Lebanon, a trip to Byblos and the Jeita Grotto is well worth it if you can cope with manic drivers on freeways where the average speed is about 200 kph!

We chose this hotel based on the high trip advisor rating - this was a mistake. The only good aspect of the hotel was the nice room. But the servicing of the room was inconsistent. The breakfast was very poor - unbelievably bad for a multinational hotel. The service at breakfast, and at the hotel in general was also poor to average. We had dinner at the Italian restaurant one night, we shouldn't have bothered. We were only one of two tables at the restaurant and the food came after waiting an eternity. The location in Hamra is not good - unless you particularly need to stay in Hamra, you are better off finding a hotel on the waterfront or in the downtown area.

LOCATION: The Le Méridien Commodore (opened in 1958 but completely renovated in 2004) is located in Hamra, Beirut's most 'prestigious' district. The surrounding area and Commodore Road (the hotel's address) are very unattractive; building under demolition, crowded streets bustling with people and filled with low- and mid-range shops and restaurants, and a very chaotic environment. On the brighter side, the location is good because the hotel is in the middle of everything; the downtown financial district (Solidère) and shopping malls of Achrafiyé are all nearby, and the hotel is approximately ten to fifteen minutes from Rafik Hariri International Airport.
RECEPTION: As previously stated, the hotel has been entirely renovated, and all efforts paid off. The lobby is intimate, very cosy, and modern. Done in shades of brown (mostly dark and chocolate browns), it is a very quiet place and very comfortable. Check-in was efficient and the staff polite.
ROOMS: My room (504) was slightly on the small side (about 20-27 square meters), but remarkably comfortable. An AMAZING and comfortable bed (the best I've slept in; done in crisp white sheets with four pillows and a brown bed runner) was the centerpiece of the room. The view was into a Civil War-damaged building, with torn-down wall sections and bullet holes (very uninspiring). The work desk was not very big, and the television was old and not particularly responsive. The bathrooms only contain a bathtub, but have excellent water pressure and wonderful toiletries made exclusively for the Le Méridien chain; there is also a bidet besides the toilet. There was also PLENTY of storage space; I had three closets and more than ten drawers!
FOOD: Breakfast in the La Brasserie restaurant was well-prepared and well-displayed. Service was friendly and efficient. For lunch and dinner, I typically ordered room service; this too was friendly and took under thirty minutes for the food to arrive. Quality of the food is very high.
SERVICE: The service is simply wonderful. Very friendly and courteous staff with smiles and offers to help.
FACILITIES: The hotel has no gymnasium, spa, beauty salon/barber shop, or fitness facilities (these were removed during the renovation). There is an outdoor swimming pool, but it is only open between May and October. It didn't look very five-star-quality, as it was surrounded by shabby apartment blocks and old buildings and a very scrubby terrace, but it might be a better place when the hotel completes the pool's maintenance and upgrade. However, the hotel does have a membership with the LifeStyles Health Club & Spa (voted one of the top five in the world), which offers hotel guests complimentary access. Unfortunately, LifeStyles is a fifteen minute walk away, and the hotel does not offer any transportation. The place itself is stunning, with an Olympic-sized indoor pool, hydropool, saunas, hammams, gymnasium, spa, massage facilities, showers, and changing areas.
OVERVIEW: Overall, the hotel is a great place to stay, as it has all the qualities of a deluxe hotel. Apart from the somewhat-dated technology in the rooms and the in-house facilities. Otherwise, I will definitely plan another visit to the Le Méridien Commodore in my next visit to Beirut (even though there is competition with the Habtoor Grand Hotel & Convention Center, InterContinental Phoenicia, and the Four Seasons Hotel Beirut, which opens in 2007).
