my friend recomended me this hotel , as it was my first time in gujrat , i fly frequently to other states of the country but this is one of the best experiences i ever had from day 1 to the last day as i stayed there for 3 days. the hotel surrondings were a little dissapointment, however the staff and thir personal touch was gr8 and made me so confortable and friendly. the evening buffet was a surprise everyday with so much of variety from sushi to whole baked fish on international standards.and cold soups with delicious smoked dal . all in all it is a place which i recomend strongly

Clean hotel with excellent dinner buffet. Gym is small and poorly ventilated but good. Nice pool, although I didn't have time to use it. Spacious and well layed-out, especially the main arched lobby. You're in a bit of a dodgy area in a politically volatile area (stay on the other side of the river if you want to feel safer), so be careful!

We arrived at Le Meridien on November 30th until December 2, 2007. There weren't any reviews so I went on blind faith of the usual classic Le Meridien style. There certainly was NO disappointment here. The rooms were clean and well presented...they had all amenities, including a hair dryer and if you need to plug in your laptop just ask for a converter at the front desk. The usual slippers and robe. 24 hour room service. Air conditioned rooms (watch for a/c in other hotels, some don't have a/c in the rooms.) Plasma TV. (only disappointment was no inroom movies or many English channels.) Smaller indoor, but beautiful marble pool and sauna. Lovely dining room with buffet. We found the food very good and the service was superb. Dominick was extremely professional and took complete care of us..good luck in your career Dominick. The Hotel Industry in Canada, US or London will be lucky to get you.
We are from Canada and travel extensively and I can honestly say that this is quite a gem...so much so that I almost don't want to write this review and save Le Meridien all to myself. We have stayed in 5 star hotels consistantly worldwide and my husband and I both agree that out of any hotel we have stayed in we have NEVER been treated like such Royalty as by the staff at this hotel from the moment we checked in. Needless to say we tipped well..India's Rupee is very inexpensive to our dollar so shop til you drop. Go to a leather shop.
Lovely leather's..purses, 7 men's wallets, 4 ladies wallets with matching change purse, 1 leather belt and leather fanny pack...cost us $6800 Rupees or $171.00 USD...make sure you go to a Government Bank ONLY...to get the best exchange rate and SAVE your certificates/receipts from the bank to convert back to USD. If the bank is closed go to Thomas Cook. Everything is a fraction of what we would pay at home...did alot of Christmas shopping...and alot of tipping...you will get everything you desire. Also, there is Security on site..Take a rickshaw booked by the hotel for shopping in the city..traffic is not for the faint of heart. We had Saleem wait for us...he waited for six hours and took us on a tour...650 rupees...aprox. $16.50...we doubled it....Thanks Saleem.. I tried to book for our return flight and the hotel was completely sold out. We are Starwood owners so I keep checking to see if there is a cancellation....nothing yet! You won't be disappointed by staying at this hotel. We will definately stay here whenever travelling through Ahmedabad.

We wanted to stay at this hotel, but my friend did not want me to pay the 9000 INR rate for the room here. I did not want to hurt his feelings or I would have stayed here without a second thought.
We stayed at a nearby hotel which I have also reviewed, but decided to go here for dinner. When looking for hotels we visited three of the next best in town. During our time going around looking at hotels, my wife stopped in here and fell in love.
Because we were tired from our travels and we longed for the respite of this wonderful Western oasis, we chose to sneak off and at least partake in dinner here while my friends rested in their hotel.
This place is befitting of a 5 star hotel with a first appearance similar to what one finds at the Imperial in New Delhi. The restaurant was clean warm and friendly.
Unfortunately, I was unable to get my dollars exchanged as we arrived late in town and because we were tired I had forgotten my Amex card and passport. Because our initial exchange of money was on the black market, I forgot that I would need the passport for the exchange. I had a couple hundred dollars and about 1000 INR on me, but I though I would need more for dinner. The front desk initially would not help and then they did make heroic attempts to help us by contacting the hotel we stayed at to get the passport information from them to exchange my money. I imagine there was just one misunderstanding after another and I thought they had asked us to leave the restaurant as they could not exchange my money. We left and I had some choice words to say to the front desk. I was upset as it was late, we were hungry, and I knew we would not find food elsewhere at the time we had to leave.
Before I left, I told the front desk I would let the company know about this as it just did not seem right that even though I was in the wrong that they would turn us away because we needed to exchange less than $20 to pay for our meal.
I must say that the food service manager went out of his way to try to help us and encourage us back to the hotel restaurant from the street. He really felt bad about the situation and did everything possible to see that we were finally taken care of and that we had food.
I felt badly that the situation had happened and that I upset the staff there. The bottom line is that they handled the situation like professionals. We got our food and the situation was made better by the heart felt efforts of the food and beverage manager. As an aside, the food was also wonderful.
This is a wonderful place and the staff there is overall the best in the city and match that of any 5 star hotel.
I can assure you I wont stay anywhere else when I return to this city.
