food poisoning
Guest name: onthecase25, south wales
Arrived on Tuesday and spent thursday to the following Tuesday very ill in bed from food poisoning. Either from the olives which i believe it was or from the steak sandwich i also ate on the Thursday evening.
A disasterous hotel.
Never to return.
I have never felt so sick in my life.
would not recommend it to anyone.

We visited the Los Monteros Hotel for a birthday celebration for 24 people and found it to be a lovely hotel. All the staff were friendly and polite and the front reception desk extremely helpful at all times.
Having booked 12 rooms for double occupancy an upgrade was given for all the rooms with a further upgrade for the Birthday boy, all at no extra cost.
The drinks were slightly more expensive but nothing that you wouldn't expect from a 5* Hotel. The pool area was fabulous with plenty of space and beds available and the attendant was there immediately to set the bed up for you.
The Hotel runs regular buses down to La Cabane Beach Club which is the Hotel's own beach club and whilst the beach there wasn't the nicest I've seen that actual club it's self was fantastic with a buffet available to die for. The hotel also had buses running down into Marbella town twice a day and also to a number of local Golf Courses.
The Hotel does however seem to be out in the middle of nowhere but Taxi's were on stand by and to go into Banus cost 17 euro going and just over 20 euro to come back after midnight.
I would certainly return.

I stayed here for a conference with work, and really enjoyed the couple of days I spent in the hotel. The facilities are very good, and the breakfast and lunch was superb. I am not sure it is a place I would choose for a holiday as it is fairly isolated, but for a few days break it is a really good choice,

Firstly, the hotel is a good four star, comfortable rooms, which are well decorated and nicely furnished. There is no tea or coffee making in the rooms, which is a shame and something we missed every day of our 5 night stay.
The Reception staff are decent, mature, attentive local people, who were very helpful with my requests for information about parking in Marbella( which is a nightmare) People report feeling isolated and this is easily rectified by taking a taxi ( which there are plentiful) for 9 euros into the Old Town, for a great night out.
The draw back to this hotel is the cost of drinks. Two gin and tonics cost 46 euros from the emtpy Cocktail Bar. Another example of profiteering is the price of wine. A bottle is 29euros ( Sauvignon Blanc from the supermarket is is 4 euros! Therefore drinks are marked up 700 % (the bar has 3 stewards standing around doing nothing and we must be paying for the over manning!!)
Can't comment on dinner in the hotel, as I didn't want serious heartburn......dont start me on the restaurant prices.!!
The Breakfast is really great with iced champagne, succulent fresh fruit , brilliant eggs and bacon and much appreciated tea and coffee( finally) .
The Pool is beautiful, and the grounds lush (plenty of staff again) The sun loungers are relaxing and shaded. Not provided with cool drinks here though, although 3 pool attendents stand around doing little. No getting up early here as about only 30 people sat around relaxing in blustery sunshine,You can take your pick where you sit but there weren't too many bavarian shorts evident (probably staying home for footie)
The type of people staying here were are curious mix.
Business men with young children, constantly on the mobile to work. Older men with younger partners, who were e.mailing around the pool. Older couples , who rarely spoke to each other, with the wives constantly gossiping on the mobile with girlfriends back home. Not very romantic. Oh and the odd 60 british youngsters on a corporate bun fight, noisy and out of place. here really!

Great Pool but vastly overpriced and too far from Banus
Guest name: Banus-or-Bust, UK
I was experimenting with various hotels in the area and stayed here for 3 nights. I loved the pool and the bar areas but the hotel is too isolated - it's a taxi everywhere. I rebooked for a few more nights but they downgraded me (without telling me) so after a rather heated discussion with the front desk I gave up and went elsewhere.
The suites are great (if you get allocated one as standard - far too expensive otherwise), but the standard rooms are nothing special.
The hotel's Le Cabana is spectacular but you can visit that separately.
If you get a deal with deluxe suite included then this is a great place for a few days, otherwise it's a rip-off.
Great facilities and superb pool, but confirm the exact price and room before confronting the belligerent front desk staff!
