Reservation was handled well. Warm reception. Staff seemed courteous, willing and attentive. Room and facilities were clean. A well located hotel, comfortable with small hotel feel.
Would likely return.

~One month before our stay in the hotel, we reserved a room and requested a high floor, while letting them know it was our first time in Portland, as we were on our honeymoon. The hotel did not honor the request by putting us on the 5th floor, even after we asked again. A fruit plate was given in place of the higher floor. Also, the woman at the front desk was not very nice, but the manager was. The room service food was great, and the water pressure in the shower was strong, and drained well (I can't stand when hotel drains are slow!).

My husband and I took the Coast Starlight train from Seattle to Portland and stayed the Memorial Day weekend at the Marriott City Center. This is the best hotel location since it is within 10 walking blocks of just about everything we wanted to do in the city. We spent most of our days at the waterfront, China Town and the Pearl District (when I wasn't shopping at Nordstrom), and the location of this hotel could not have been better. We also booked the "Shop til you Drop" package for $159/night which provided a tote bag, bottled water, granola bar, late check-out, and a coupon book for Portland restaurants and attractions- many of which we were planning to go to anyway, so by using these coupons, we easily saved over $150 on 2 for 1 event tickets, free breakfasts buffets, and half price lunches and dinners while we were in town. The Marriott was cozy in our King bedroom. The view from the 11th floor was super. There was a Concierge Lounge on the top floor (20th), but it is closed on weekends. I would suggest requesting a room as far away from the elevators as possible, since one of them squeaks when it closes, and it kept me up at night- or just bring good earplugs. There is an excellent restaurant (Shula's Steakhouse) on the 2nd floor. The food was amazing, especially for dinner. However, the service one evening was terrible. It took 15 minutes for our waiter to greet us at the table and take our drink order, and then he completely forgot to place the order at the bar, so a half an hour later, I had to remind him about the beverages. He apologized, and we got our drinks shortly thereafter. The meals were delicious, and the portions are huge. My prime rib was a little colder than I would have liked, but the taste made up for it. We also weren't rushed for time since we were staying in that evening, so the really slow service didn't bother us at all. Overall, the hotel gets a thumbs up!! We'd stay there again in a heartbeat.

Stayed two nights here. For what it is, ie a big chain in heart of downtown, it is excellent. Clean, beautifully decorated, walking distance to whole city. Good front staff.

Although this hotel was expensive, it was clean and in a good location. No bed bugs! One night we had noisy neighbors but otherwise this hotel was quiet and the room was large. Parking was expensive. We chose not to eat in the hotel. Lots of public transportation but we chose to walk everywhere.
