We stayed at the Marriott over the weekend. Great service, lovely rooms, the most comfortable beds with incredibly luxurious linen and pillows. We were on the 15th floor and had a beautiful view of the pools and sea, gorgeous sunsets also.
Every time I walked into the lobby I couldn't help but feel relaxed, with water everywhere and gorgeous fresh flowers. It had the most amazing smell all the time! The buffet breakfast has absolutely everything you could want.
I'd also highly recommend the Teppanyaki Restaurant at the Marriott, Benihana. The food was amazing and we had a great chef. Unfortunately the bathrooms were disgusting - with paper towels, water and toilet paper all over the floor, I don't think they were cleaned as often as they need to be.. especially on a Saturday night when there's a lot of people in the hotel.
After going through all of the accomodation options available in Surfer's I kept coming back to this one as it was rated 'number one' - I now know why and am so glad that we decided to stay there.

Stayed here in September 07.
Beautiful hotel, from check in area to the rooms. Very clean and everyting you need in the rooms. Stunning views, Rooms spacious. Breakfast was great, bars were very relaxing. Pool area was amazing......They have a reef which you can snorkel in which is a great touch, very entertaining. The pool area is very nice and we were well attended to by the staff asking if we wanted any drinks or snacks while we relaxed by the pool. Plenty of loungers and space. Parking at the hotel was free and plenty of spaces. Overall a great relaxation break. Would definately return and recommend.

My partner and I wanted to treat ourselves for christmas so we payed 5 star prices for a room at the Marriot. Unfortunately it was not worth it and we left early.
Negatives: The lifts did not work properly so it took about 15min to get up to our room; we could hear the people in the rooms next door (particularly the baby at 2am); it takes 10min to get to the beach which includes crossing the very busy noisey road which the hotel is on; rooms are very outdated; restaurant was terrible and overpriced...they cannot even make good chips; kids everywhere, the pool area is the most unrelaxing place we have ever been
Positives: Room service pizza was delicious; bed is really really comfortable; good sized bath.
If you are going to the Gold Coast and looking for something quiet, I recommend you rent a big apartment in Main Beach where the restaurants are great and buildings are not outdated like most in Surfers Paradise.

I stayed at the Marriott Resort for work for four nights in March. It was a fabulous stay.
The entry of the Resort is wonderful with a grand staircase and sandstone everywhere. It was an indulgent, relaxed look.
My room was on the 18th floor and had a balcony, as do all rooms I suspect. I had great views of the ocean, the canal and the hinterland. The room was furnished luxuriously and was very clean. The shower did have a small mould problem but the bathroom otherwise was well lit, spacious and had a big bath. The bed was covered in pillows, so many to choose from!
I didn't have the energy to go out to dinner much while I was there and so indulged on the room service menu. I was surprised to find that the prices were very, very reasonable. For $20AUD you could have a very large serve of lasagna, chips and salad. I couldn't even eat half of it! The wood fired pizza was also great.
I did however check out both restaurants that were on offer at the hotel. Benihana Japanese Steak House was just fantastic for teppanyaki!! It was the most enjoyable and tasty dinner, well worth the $135 that covered three of us with one of the banquets. I also endulged myself at the Lagoon Restuarant which is buffet style. There was soo much to choose from. Seafood, asian noodles, roast, pizza, pasta made to order etc etc.
The hotel is a five minute walk to the beach and I'd estimate a 20-25 minute walk to Surfers 'heart' Cavill Mall.
