Nice hotel...clean and in a great location...felt safe and nice to watch the boats in the marina and the cruise ships docking. Pool was on the small side but ok. Rooms themselves could use some work...a bit outdated and small. The "balcony" is just a ledge overlooking the water on the bay side. The rooms on the side of the building have real balconies. Plenty of restaurants nearby and some shopping The Deli downstairs was wonderful!!! Overall we were pleased. Nice for one or two nights while waiting for a cruise.

We booked this hotel because of Marriott points. This hotel is below the standards of what a Marriott should be. The rooms are old, the carpet smells and so do many of the floors we were on. The bathroom is out-dated, no little extras like Q-tips, hair net for the shower, no exhaust fan and old fixtures. Garbage pails are plastic with no liners, restaurants were terrible - fruit was not ripe but served anyway and meats/fish were dry, overcooked and overpriced. Service was slow, cleaning people did only the basic-but they were very fast to open your car door and wait for a tip. We were so very dissapointed in this hotel and I would never stay there again. Big mistake.

This is an 'average' Marriott, so still more than acceptable, even if not likely to be the best expereince in your life.
The hotel interior looks a little dated (lobby, corridors etc.) but the rooms were decorated to usual marriott standard.
Managed to get a move to a room facing the bay on 26th floor and the views were of course amazing.
Staff were friendly enough though I found that the restaurant staff were very obsessed with making sure they got the 'right' gratuity. I know gratuities are important n the US but here they seemed overly concerned with this.
We used the pool once as well and it was fine, though a little cold.
I was a bit annoyed that over the weekend they closed the club lounge (I'm a Marriott elite member so this provides me and my family with free breakfast/snacks). This struck me as an unnecessarily cheap thing to do. When I complained I was give some breakfast vouchers but had I not done so I wouldnt have had any.
Didnt expect to have to pay 25 USD to park per day (actually I paid 28 for lobby parking) but there is little in the way of competeng parking nearby and that which is available is same price.
So overall it was fine - Marriott's usually are - and it wouldnt be a disaster to stay there again with my familly - but i'd probably look elsewhere first

Nice Rooms!!! Horrible Restaurant and Room Service

This is a great hotel for Pre/Post Cruise from the Port of Miami. It is about 2 miles from the port. The lobby and front reception area is very clean and well cared for.
Valet and baggage assistance is hit or miss but efficient overall.
Rooms: Rooms are very nice and I recommend you ask for a room with a balcony facing the cruise port. Allthough most of the rooms have side views of Biscayne Bay on both sides of the hotel you have either high rise residential condos or the doubletree on the north side. Some of the rooms have the strange entry configuration and the bathrooms are small for Marriott standards.
Room Service/Restaurant: Geez what can I say? This department is incredibly lacking in both efficiency and anything else for that matter.
Ordered 2 Cuban Sandwiches and 2 orders of Fried Plaintains. Took 1 hour 20 minutes. Cuban Sandwiches are pretty simple to make and authentic cuban sandwiches even don't take over an hour to make. When she finally arrived she practically wiped out my laptop and just wisked passport and papers right off the table to make room for the tray. (Another one of those Marriotts that don't believe in leaving the guests anything to eat off except those ackward trays. She was pretty taken back about my discontent about my documents and my laptop being whisked off the table like it was no problem to just disconnect my laptop from the internet without even asking or even providing a response to my 3 repeated requests for the table to eat on.
I spoke to another guest in the elevator on the way up from the lobby and they said that they had pretty horrible service in the restaurant.
At the time of the review I ordered 2 Cookies and Creams Ice Creams over 40 minutes ago!!! Definetly up to the Marriott standard of service in regards to the Food and Beverage Department.
Would I stay here again? Probably not, unless going out of the port of miami again on another cruise, and even then I would eat out somewhere instead of trusting this hotel to ever deliver what the Marriott name has come to mean to a Marriott loyalist.
