The hotel has a great location that is very convenient for convention center. The hotel has a covered walkway to the convention center. The hotel has just completed a major renovation in the past year. The lobby is fine and the meeting rooms are very nice. Our room was on the 8th floor and had a decent downtown view and a great view of the capitol. The room was decent in size and decor was very good. I was surprised that the renovation did not include upgrading the TVs to HD Widescreens. The room had a refrig and safe. The safe was good size and could allow laptop computer. Bathroom was good size and plenty of counter space. The bed was comfortable, but was not the best for restful sleep with the combination of the quality of pillows. All of the linens, etc. were great. Wireless connectivity was not available and Internet connection was $9.95 a night. I had breakfast buffet in the City Grille rest and was excellent... I recommend a stay at the Marriott for convention visits. Valet parking $28 per day and self park $25. St. Elmo's was very good rest, but the best steak and meal was at Shulas! Outstanding...

This is a wonderful hotel, with a very friendly staff.
I booked last minute on priceline and got a very good price ($50). I'm afraid that next time I go to Indianapolis I will be afraid to use Priceline in case another hotel takes my bid -- I want to stay at the Downtown Marriott!
The bedding in this hotel is the nicest I have ever seen. They have the cotton duvet covers so you know they can be washed easily. Very fluffy and luxurious, with lots of pillows. The bathroom was unusually large with lots of nice appointments. We had a great view of the state capitol building from our room.
On site parking is expensive, but street parking is safe. We were there on a Sunday, so parking was free. The hotel staff suggested this as an option.
The lobby is beautiful and well appointed. A fresh server of lemon water stands in case you are in need of a beverage. They have a computer to print out your boarding pass and provide assistance to get it done. The night clerk was so friendly and made us feel very welcome. He mentioned that we had booked through priceline and did not make us feel like pariahs for doing so.
I had never been to Indianapolis before, and had no idea it was such a beautiful and welcoming city. I hope to have a chance to visit again soon.

The best hotel experience I've had in years and we are frequent travelers. All the staff went out of their way to make sure I had a pleasant stay and all my needs were met. Each request I had was met with a smile and the Hoosier Hospitality was evident everywhere. There was never a line at the front desk; valet parkers were prompt and helpful; meals were served quickly and were very good--in fact the chef even came out to speak to our table at one of the banquets. Can't say enough good things about this hotel. Yes, it's pricey but it's worth it.

I recently stayed at the Indianapolis Marriott for a client meeting that lasted a few days. I have had some bad experiences at Marriotts, but decided to give them another try since the rate in the city were sky high due to a conference going on.
My room was nice enough, though the bathroom was not clean at all, I had to ask housekeeping to come up and fully clean it again (there was even toilet paper in the toilet). Just to be safe, I asked them to replace the sheets and towels; I though perhaps they had remade the rooms, instead of turning it over for a new guest. My next encounter with housekeeping came at 8:15 AM the next day when they knocked (and knocked, and knocked) on my door until I answered it – and pointed to the “do not disturb” sign. This something that happened the last time I stayed in a Marriott (another city)! Perhaps better training is needed? The furnishings were very basic, and the walls were dirty with suitcase marks and makeup; overall the room needed a bit of elbow grease and make me feel like it was dirty, though honestly it was the impression; I’ve stayed at worse places.
The business center is completely automated, which seems to be the case more and more. Frequently, it also means the printers are out of paper, the copier is almost out of toner, and the receipt printers are jammed (no expense report receipt), which was the case here. The front desk helped me quickly and made my copies for no charge, which was nice, but also to be expected for a few pages.
The restaurants were very good, and the breakfast buffet (13.95) was well worth it.
My bill was accurate, though at checkout the bellman was not all that willing to help me with by bags (I had equipment from my meeting) and the taxi driver had to get out and help me. No problem- no tip.
I would recommend saving a bit of money at staying at the Hilton or Sheraton if they have rooms; or stay at the Westin next door. While the Westin costs slightly more then the Marriott in Indianapolis, I’m sure the service and amenities are much better.
If you are staying at the Marriott, fret not, it’s just average. Though you may feel it’s a bit pricey for what you get.
