We stayed at the Wardman Park Marriott June 29 -July 3. Our room in the central tower was spacious and newly decorated. Noise was not a problem. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our meal at Harry's pub was good, but the breakfast buffett at the Stone's Throw restaurant was overpriced. Metro stop was right next door making travel into the city convenient. Overall our stay was excellent and we would stay here again.

Huge hotel!

The Wardman Park hotel is huge. Simply huge. There are three towers, all with varying degrees of new-ness to them. The rooms are nicely decorated and well maintained. The beds are ultra comfortable, although my bathroom was tight (you couldnt have the door open and take a shower, otherwise the door blocked your access to the tub).
The signage and inroom directories need updating. It lists the fitness center and the "Lanai Pool" on the mezz level. The Mezz level only has conference rooms, and the fitness center is now on the first floor. There was a another pool in a different tower now. You would think they would update their marketing materials?
Overall a very nice stay though, and the surrounding area had awesome restaurants. The Lebanese restaurant across the street was awesome!
Good value for DC

We stayed here on the last leg of a multi city trip to the US. On entering you're struck at the size of the place - not surprisingly there were a number of conventions on during our 4 days there - and we can understand why some people might get a little lost as the signage isn't brilliant.
That said we had no problems finding our room, located in the modern part of the hotel. The room was a good size, comfortable and clean and what you might expect of a Marriott brand hotel
We found check in efficient and friendly, although had to chuckle at their wonderment of us presenting booking details on recycled paper.
There are plenty of facilties in the hotel. The bar is fine for snacks and drinks are good value - although we suspect that this is because the pound is strong against the dollar (Euro users must be loving the rates just now). However, there's a number of good small restaurants catering for different tastes a short walk away so give that a go - Murphy's of DC (near the metro stop) is a friendly and welcoming bar with live music and worth a visit. If you're on the gastro dining trail a one stop metro trip to Dupont Circle should satiafy you
The pool was a bit of a disappointment for a hotel of the size but on the whole it was a pleasant stay and it's really good value compared with similar hotels nearer the tourist attractions in downtown DC. It's only 10 minutes on the excellent subway service to Metro Centre and Union Station so not really too much of an effort to find to get good quality at a good saving.

We stayed at the Marriott Wardman Park for 3 nights in June 2008.
The hotel is in a fantastic location, with the metro virtually next door and lots of shops/cafes close by.
The zoo is also walking distance making it a great place for families to visit.
We stayed in the 'newer' section of the building, and the room was great- very spacious and very clean-and great toiletries!
The surrounding area is also very beautiful and safe- great for taking a long stroll!!
Overall, we had a fantastic stay at this hotel and I have no complaints. I will most definately be staying at this hotel again when I next visit DC.

Good Stay

I stayed at the Marriott Wardman Park in early June for a conference. The hotel gets high marks for convenience. It's right next to a Metro station, making it a great starting point for sightseeing. The National Zoo is within walking distance. There are lots of cafes and restaurants in the area, too.
I had a room in the renovated tower. Though the bathroom was small, the room itself was nice. My room overlooked the a/c unit, so there was no traffic noise.
The only real complaint I had was about signage and directions to the fitness center. The sign in the elevator and the note in the hotel directory both said the fitness center was on the second floor. I wandered around for a few minutes before I realized both were wrong. It's on the first floor. The signs need to be changed.
I did not eat the food in the hotel, though I hear it's not bad.
I'd stay here again.
