We were in Boston for just 2 nights, capping off a wonderful trip to Maine. Hotel is clean and looks nice, but the beds were terribly uncomfortable (much too soft), and the rooms are quite small. They assured us we could put in a cot for our 3rd child, but it was a feat to rearrange the furniture and make it fit.
Location is terrific, not far from many restaurants and the T. Recommend Joe's restaurant for American. Nice environment, great menu and surprising speed with good food.
Concierge was very helpful, if not enthusiastic.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and to attend a Red Sox game (my present to him).
The hotel is in a great location and love the old style on the outside, but inside is all updated. You can walk everywhere, Newbury St., Fenway Park, Boston Public gardens etc.
The rate was great, which included a breakfast buffet each morning, which was awesome and the staff very friendly.
All our requests were met, early check in; extra pillows & towels; refrigerator; higher floor room (less noise from the streets of Boston); etc.
The room was perfect and comfortable and the bathroom updated and spacious. The only thing missing is a hotel bar but there are plenty of those close by. You are able to buy beer and other drinks from the hotel lobby fridge which is a plus.
Except for the 4:30 unexpected wake up call by the fire alert system which directed us to please leave the room and take the stairs to the lobby to be met with Boston's finest fireman (mind you a false alarm) we highly recommend this hotel when visiting Boston.
We definitely will be staying here again.

My family of five stayed at the Marriott Copley Place on July 4, 2008. We had made reservations months in advance and had been promised a room with a view of the Charles River and 4th of July fireworks. When we arrived mid-afternoon our room was not ready, and reception staff were not friendly. We did not get into our room until aroundt 5pm, and with two small children and one pre-teen this did not make for a good start to our vacation. The room was nice, and very clean, but did not have a view of the fireworks, which we had been promised. The hotel was full so no changes or compensation were available. This was very disappointing. Im not sure I would stay at this hotel again, and I am a loyal Marriott rewards member.

My wife, daughter and I stayed at the Boston Marriott Copley Place Hotel for five nights the first week of July. My daughter was in a dance competition at the nearby Hynes Center and our nightly rate was a very reasonable $199 a night. The hotel is centrally located which allowed us to walk to a number of sights and destinations including the July 4th fireworks on the Charles River. Sites that were more distant were generally easily accesible by the subway system.
For shoppers, the hotel is connected to the Prudential Center and the upscale Copley Place. Not of interest to me but of great interest to my wife and daughter. The Prudential Center has a good food court which helps if you're trying to avoid pricey hotel restaurant meals. Also of note is a bar-restaurant called The Pour House across from the Hynes Center which serves a good basic breakfast and reasonably priced meals.
An advantage of the Marriott is that there is a large Shaw's supermarket across the street which is open 24 hours a day. It's a great place to stock up on snacks and drinks and it has very good deli counters where you can buy sandwiches, pizzas, chicken, salads, etc. to have a low-budget ready-made meal.
The pool at the Marriott is adequate but not that big. By the weekend, it seemed to be constantly full of kids which made swimming difficult, if not impossible. However, there is a whirlpool and a sauna.
One downside was the parking which cost $34 a day. Since there's no need to have a car in downtown Boston, some people apparently avoid this hefty charge by parking further out and taking the subway to the hotel. Another negative was the limited Internet service.
Overall, the hotel is a good value if you can get a good rate. The rooms are fine, the service is good and the hotel is in a great location.

The hotel is just okay. The rooms and lobby are what you would expect from a Marriott--not particularly sleek or modern but not necessarily dated or threadbare either. The elevators were super slow however and unusually crowded, in part because they were running so slowly.
The best part about this hotel is the location. It's connected to the mall and is in a very central location in the Back Bay area, within close walking distance to the shops on Newbury Street and a Shaw's market--which came in handy.
I also recently stayed at the Westin and to the extent the two are comparably priced, I'd recommend staying there over the Marriott. The rooms at the Westin seemed newer and the hotel didn't suffer from the slow elevator problem plaguing the Marriott.
