Stayed in the Toffee shop suite for two nights while in Liverpool. The Malmaison is different to other hotels decor wise and atmosphere wise. Its very laid back and chilled. We ate in the hotel for lunch and dinner which was excellent on both ocasions. Liverpool was an excellent city with very friendly people and loads to do.

We got a great deal for this Mal, 1% off the price for each year of your life, not telling my age but almost saved 50%....lol. Lovely new hotel but didn't quite press same buttons as the Newcastle Mal for us, room was much smaller, less impressive view and although on banks of the Mersey was really in the wrong location.
Some public areas carried The Beatles theme, the huge inflateable yellow submarine was novel, but the bar/ eating areas were cozy but less wow factor than Newcastle.
as the hotel had only recently won Best Restaraunt in Liverpool we thought we'd give it a blast, only to be a tad disappointed, ( almost ?100 for basically Bangers and Mash, Strips of Steak with chips for wifey + wine and starters) we chose these because there realy wasn't much adventerous on the menu! so avoid if you can folksAll in all, Liverpool is a nice enough place around the touristy areas but most of the interest lies deeper into the centre of town, Albert Dock, which was close by was a bit of let down too, might do Liverpol again but wil stay closer to Lime Street train station where most of the older buildings are nearby.

My boyfriend booked this weekend getaway as a suprised because I wanted to see where the Beatles were from.
I immediately thought that he loved me very much for bringing me to this fantastic hotel. The decor was really classy and the room was very comfortable.
The one thing that may prove difficult is actually finding the entrance to this place! You practically have to go through the neighbouring hotel lobby to access Malmaison. We also did wait quite a while to get served at the check-in, but to be fair, there was some kind of delegation checking out as we arrived.
Those tiny mishaps were quickly forgotten once we got in our room. We ate at the hotel restaurant and the food was frankly delicious though the service seemed a bit amateur.
I'm not a fan of hotel chains, but I would love to go to any other Malmaison hotel.

Should be re-named The Marmite Hotel, you'll either love it or hate it!
