We have just come back from a weekend in Glagow. We originally booked 2 nights at the Marks hotel but checked out early due to not liking the room we were in.
We went to the Malmaison instead and what a difference! The rooms were much better sized, brighter, more stylish, staff were friendly and helpful. Couldn't fault it

As my husband and I had recently stayed in the AMAZING & FAULTLESS Malmaison Oxford hotel, it motivated me to book Malmaison Glasgow as we were attending a wedding there. Unfortunately the Glasgow hotel is not even on the same planet.
We had booked a Dinner, Bed & Breakfast rate through the website, yet on arrival, the receptionist informed us that we were on a Room only rate and for the same money! I explained that this was incorrect but staff disagreed. I had to physically start up my laptop at the reception desk and show the receptionist our booking email and that the hotel had made a mistake somewhere along the line. With some extremely red faces, our booking was corrected.
Or room was very clean but located on the ground floor and seemed to be on a though-route corridor. We were woken very early by a large truck unloading laundry and drivers shouting right outside our window. As this is a city location, this is NOT recommended fo anyone who requires a peaceful stay.
We dined in the brasserie that night and the argumentative staff theme continued in there. I ordered a particular bottle of wine (read straight from the wine list) and I had the wine waiter tell me that they don't keep that particular type of wine. Once again, I had to open the wine list and physically point out the wine to him. They again retreated with an embarassed face....
The staff should spend more time working on getting to know their hotel and what it offers, than telling their customers that they are wrong!! By that time, I was getting annoyed and what could have been a very nice dinner was disrupted. Staff were not attentive and my husband had to physically leave the table, walk over to staff and ask for more drinks, dessert etc.
Overall VERY DISAPPOINTED!!! We have stayed in several of the Malmaison hotels and have always been extremely happy. This hotel lets the chain down unfortunately and we will not be recommending it.

My husband booked the Mal for one night as we needed a well earned break from our everyday lives. We arrived Friday pm and he had booked a dinner bed and breakfast deal.
On booking they had advised we would eat at nine however when asking on check in they were more than willing to see if they could fit us in earlier. We changed and headed down to the bar where we were pleasantly surprised by the extensive wine menu. After mulling over options as to what to drink and some tasters and advice from a very friendly and knowledgeable barman we decided on our wine. After enjoying a leiurely drink we were then quickly advised we could be seated and served early for our meal. (only by 25 mins but made all the difference after a long day at work)
Apart from being seated next to the most obnoxious and rude couple I have ever clapped eyes on (who complained about the fact the waitress did noy say bon appetite!!!!) the meal and service was great. We were explained what was included in our package price and decided not to stick to this which was also not a problem for the staff. Overall nothing seemed to be a problem, the meal was served well and we were not rushed out of our table for any reason. Lovely night.
The rooms are also lovely - but a little on the small side. In general they are more than adequate for an overnight stay.
In the morning we were pleasantly treated to a continental breakfast served in bed which I thought was great. They came served in a large hamper and provided us with a more than adequate selection of fruit, cereal, croissants, yoghurt juice and condiments and hit the spot before we headed back to our lives of mayhem.
Great overnight break for young couple who enjoy good wine, good food and pleasant surroundings.
Have heard that Mal Newcastle and Manchester are much better than Glasgow so will be booking up there next month for another night away.

Like many other reviewers I took advantage of the ?99 offer and booked a Sunday night stay as a little treat for myself and better half.
The weather may have been a little grey and damp but the welcome from reception staff certainly wasn't. We were quickly & courteously checked in and off to our room we went.
We were on the 4th floor. The room was decorated in an art deco style of cream and black and we were very pleased
with the standard of finish and size .
All the usual Mal little extras were there; The Arran Toiletries are always welcome and they encourage you to take them home with you too!
After a day of being tourists in this great city it was back to the hotel (Which is a former church and so has some nice architectural features) for a quick wash and brush up and a well
earned glass of bubbly.
A 3 course set menu was included in the offer but we mixed and matched from the A la carte, for which you pay a supplement but the food choice and quality were excellent. We liked the fact that the bistro is housed in the undercroft and again service here was effecient and friendly.
A good nights sleep after a night on the tiles was helped greatly by the lovely comfy bed.
We opted for the full Scottish Breakfast the next day but there are many other options for the more health myinded and this too was included in the bargain price.
It was with a tinge of sadness that we checked-out of Malmaison Glasgow but know that we will be back....
