I stayed at Grand Hotel Continental for three days in June with my family. Siena was much cleaner and calmer than Florence (part of Florence felt like Times Square with both local and tourists - albeit with history) and if you want a luxurious hotel in the center of the town, this is your only choice. We stayed in a delux room on a high floor. The room was spacious by NY standards with very high ceiling, and was comfortable enough for a family of three including a teenager. The staff members were all friendly and professional. I had been concerned about the noise mentioned by some reviewers, but this was not a problem at all during our stay. However, there was a parade during the day and due to some acoustics, the sound was so loudly & clearly heard in our room. So, I think you should check if you plan to stay at this hotel on any special holiday when there may be fireworks, parade, etc. at night. Restaurants the concierge suggested were casual but the quality was very good in one case and decent in another. Breakfast at the hotel was mediocre at best, and you may want to consider looking for a place outside. Overall, this hotel deserves its 5 star, and I certainly don't mind staying at this hotel again. If you don't have school-age children, May would be probably a better season to visit since it would not be as hot.

This hotel is beautiful and in a great location. The staff were very pleasant. Ceiling in our room was a work of art. Freshly pressed linens a nice touch. Bathroom was small but clean. One thing to note: There was so much noise from the street at night. It didn't stop.....from people hanging outside and partying to construction noise in the morning, it was very hard to sleep (and I actually like a little noise when I sleep).

Staying just one night in Siena, so picked the hotel as it was central. Travelling by car so difficult access although not as bad as central Florence, the hotel staff were unconcerned about us parking in front of the medieval church opposite. Largish room with a huge four-poster, good size bathroom and beautifully painted ceiling. The hotel had some fantastic features including the central courtyard with a glass roof, stone staircases etc. very atmospheric. The bar area and breakfast was very average but the benefit of the hotel was being right in the centre of old Siena just a few minutes from the Piazza del Campo and some excellent local restaurants
