We have just returned from 6 days at the Mezzatorre and have to say this is a first class hotel. Upon arrival we were met in reception by the very professional yet friendly staff as we checked in we were informed that we had been upgraded to the Grand Suite, pictures on the internet do not do this suite it is truly magnificent with a vast terrace that wraps around the suite. Obviously when you have a suite like that you want to make the most of it so we opted for room service for quite a few evenings we were informed that we were not restricted to the room service menu but could have anything from the restaurant!
The hotel sits in beautiful grounds and everything was very clean and tidy, there was always beds available around the pool and the pool staff very attentive, the food in both restaurants was superb and the service excellent.
The most outstanding feature, apart from our suite, has the be the most amazing views from virtually all parts of the hotel with the best sunset i have ever seen in Europe.
The only downside which is not really the hotels fault it is now getting very expensive but i guess that is the same all over as the pound dips towards one for one against the euro.
Finally well done to all of the staff for their friendly and attentive service.

My husband and I have just returned home from our wonderful stay at the beautiful Mezzatorre.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary whilst at the hotel and had a really special time.
The hotel is perched on a cliff overlooking the sea surrounded by a pinewood of about seven hectares. The grounds are so beautiful. It is like being in a tropical paradise.
As regards gastronomy, with its stunning views of the sea on the cliff-top terrace, the Chandelier restaurant provides one of the most romantic candle-lit settings where we enjoyed the finest gourmet cuisine and a superb selection of wines whilst watching the most beautiful sunsets.
We have lots of special memories of our wonderful stay at the Mezzatorre and are planning to return next year to celebrate my 30th Birthday.
It is the perfect romantic and luxurious retreat for you and your loved one.

My boyfriend and I stayed in Mezzatorre for 5days in July. We stayed in the grand suite which is absolutely fabulous. It had beautiful bathroom, living room, spacious bedroom and huge terrace with Jacuzzi overlooking the sea.
The location is just amazing, the view is stunning. There are stairs from the swimming pool area to the sea, we used to swim there everyday. We ate in the restaurant next to the pool a few times, but the food wasn't that good. We loved the breakfast = selection of bread, eggs (any style), variety of cheeses hams, cereals, yogurts, fruit..and much more..
We had dinner at the hotel once and it was ok..
Ischia is beautiful island, i recommend you to rent scooter and explore the island there is a lot to see.
The must for dinner is restaurant Neptunos - excellent food with live music. The owner will bring you drinks for free and dance and sing with you at your table!!! We had so much fun there.

If you are considering a romantic getaway in southern Italy, you must consider the Mezzatorre. Perched on a cliff overlooking the sea, the view is breathtaking.
Ischia is the very low-key cousin to Capri. But if you don't need the glitz and glamour, this is your slice of heaven.
The rooms are small, but if you request one with a terrace, you with not feel cramped. The service is first class.
The only complaint is the high price of food and drinks. Eighteen euros for a mixed salad? I guess one must pay for the million dollar view.

Having visited a number of 5 star hotels the rooms here were definitely not up to scratch. We went with friends one of whom was Italian and we stayed in the more expensive tower and were enticed by promises (on phoning the hotel) of historical character. The room looked historical all right, circa early 1990's with PVC windows! The room was small but afforded great sea views the best thing about it, furnishing was dated.
The spa was even worse, more like your local gym than a luxury 5 star spa.I was at the Four Seasons in Malaysia a couple of months ago and Mezzatorre 'Spa' was not fit to be described by the same word as that one. The pool tiles looked stained and chipped and the attendent wanted a Doctor's certificate to allow me into the Sauna!
Restauarant was good but overpriced. Views and service were lovely, as is Ischia but save your money. This is a four star hotel experience at five star prices.
