A magical place to completely chill out. We took our honeymoon here, the service was insanely good, the food was to a new level (i probably ate fish every meal), did i mention the service...it's top notch, you cannot beat this place. it's remote and quite, the pool is gorgeous, the spa experience is NOT to be MISSED and the guests are equally as private but fun as you want them. AMAZING TIME; cannot wait to get back. Worth every penny; although drinks are a bit pricey and can add up (ditto the size of the small wine pours). Still service, cleanliness, purity of the island and people is top grade. Not to be missed in life.

My husband and I stayed at Parrot Cay for 5 nights to celebrate my birthday and I've been dreaming of going back since we got home two months ago! Yes, I think we can all agree that it is expensive. But I have to say that it is ABSOLUTELY worth the money. The property is gorgeous - especially the beach. But I really want to talk about the food and the overall level of service.
First, the food: Amazing at every meal. Definitely get the meal plan if you like to eat - it is pricey. I thought that both restaurants had plenty of things to choose from and were very accommodating - one night, a gentleman at the table next to us ordered something not even remotely on the menu and the staff obliged. Breakfast was so good, I got up early just to go have a lazy cup of coffee and a chocolate croissant on the terrace before ordering my actual "breakfast" (Eggs Florentine, Eggs Benedict - Cocount Waffles- wondeful).
Second, and most important, the service: The best I've ever seen. From the captain of the boat that took us to the island, to the wonderful beach staff that set up our chairs and brought us delicious drinks, to the hosts and waiters who remembered our names after only one night, to the spa (recommend the massage!), to the wonderful people who turned down our bed at night - each staff person greeted us with a smile and many remembered our names/preferences. The Lotus restaurant staff even made me a surprise birthday cake on my birthday.
I loved the slow pace of the resort - I found it very relaxing and soothing- exactly what I wanted out of my vacation. If that's what you're looking for - I highly recommend Parrot Cay.

It’s as average as it gets.
After reading some of the reviews, I had low expectations, because I guess I didn’t want to be disappointed. Let me just say that my husband and I have stayed at some of the most exclusive resorts/hotels in the Caribbean, so I am not just being picky. (some eg: Cap Juluca in Anguilla, Raffles Canouan island)
We arrived at the airport and were ushered to a van with a min ride to the marina. The river insisted on talking about political situation in US, even after we told him that one doesn’t talk about religion or politics, especially while one is on vacation. At the marina we were greeted by a woman who seemed less then interested to have that job. Walked to the boat and arrived 25 min later at Parrot Cay. We were taken to the lobby of the main building for check in. First impressions were positive, but it all sort of started to become less then great. The room…what to say about that….I think they were trying to go for simple luxury, unfortunately they sourly missed it. The room was EXTREMLY simple and had no uniting thyme, it just seemed that they painted things all white (not even the same kind of white) and gave no other thought to it. But then you enter the bathroom…and wow, that was just a mess. The floors were discolored on most of the tile, it looked dirty, the toilette rocked, and I wore flip flops in the shower because I just couldn’t get passed the idea of things clinging to my feet. There was some brown cust around the rim of the bathtub. Some of the tile in the shower was broken, and for some reason it had to door or curtain, so when you showered, the floor in front of it would because completely soaked. The bed was comfortable, however the dusty polyester things that hung of the canopy, that were dropped at night were disgusting. The whole room had a feeling that they just didn’t want to spend any money to make things nice, we are not even talking about luxury, just clean and simple. This place was built in 1991 but then taken over by “parrot Kay” in 1998, but it seems that they made no upgrades to any of the original things and it’s 2008!
The breakfast was good, actually one of the best ones we have had. However lunches and dinners were something insane. The portions were small, even small for European sizes, I thought that was good, because 1. we never over ate, and 2. there was no waist of food…but that’s where it ended….the prices for that size of entr?e were unbelievable. Most of them were $42. the cheapest was 36 (and only maybe 1 out of 10). Appetizers were for example two slices of a “sushi roll” for $24…soup for $18. they a whole they were tasty, and perhaps if they were half the price, then it would be ok and you didn’t feel like you were being robbed. And even if they were that expensive, then we should have felt that we ate like Kings, but unfortunately we didn’t feel that way. NON alcohol Iced tea was $4, Beer was $8 a bottle and Captain Morgan and 7 UP was $16…that’s lot even by Manhattan and South Beach standards. After 10 days of us staying there, the variety of food was getting old, and even though I do not eat fast food, I had this crazy feeling that I’d love to get a BigMac and some fries!
The Spa was very nice, but also very expensive, any massage was $190 for 75 min. the whole time that we were there, we couldn’t get two appointments to the spa in the 10 days, and had to be placed on a waiting list. After the whole week, I decided to call and find out what’s the possibility of us actually getting a message. We were “granted” 2, for only an hour each, at two separate times, and it seemed like they were doing us a huge favor. The spa amenities they had in the rooms were nice. I NEVER use any of them at all the hotels we have ever stayed (very picky what I shampoo my hair with) but these were of very good quality. I even bought some to take home. But found it hilarious that in the afternoon the shampoo and conditioner were $26 each for two small bottles, but when I came to purchase then in the evening they were $32. when I told the spa attendant that I saw them for less this afternoon, I was given a look of “I can’t believe you just said that”, and after I said “but that’s the price I saw” and a short argument was given it at $26. that’s a 25% increase of the price…are they insane?
The service was nice (when no one famous was around), they were attentive and smiley, however as soon as a celebrity walked in (this time it was Donna Karen) you couldn’t get them to pay you a min of attention. Most of the people who work on the resort are from Bali, they were very eager to please, and very polite. The few “natives” that did work at the two restaurants seemed to have an attitude that they were entitled to this job. One of who works at the terrace walked over asked what my husband wanted to drink, and completely ignored me, he stopped her and said “and my wife will have…” she made no apologies.
And YES, there is absolutely nothing to do. So if you are single and not interested in completely relaxing then this is NOT a place for you. We basically lied around on the beach, in the 3 very cube cabanas they have, and read books and swam….the beach was absolutely beautiful. They have Pilates and Yoga in the afternoon, but that’s really not my bag. I play tennis, so my husband and I played almost every night at 9 pm. The courts were nice, however the balls were dead, they looked like they have been out there for months without being replaced.. When I asked if they had new balls, I was told I would be given them tomorrow. Uhm…but we are playing now, not tomorrow. In any case I never saw the new balls. While it would be ok to say that to someone at some cheap place, this is really not what you say to a guest who just spent almost 10k being here.
The final straw came when on our way home. I called the front desk the day before to find out what time we were leaving. I was told the boat leaves at 12:30. i said that our flight leaves at 3, and I am not sure that this is enough time. I was told that the boat is leaving at 12:30 anyway. When the bill came to our room at night, they had the wrong flight and the wrong time. I called again, but was basically shot down. At check out, I brought up the issue again, the receptionist said that there is another boat leaving at 12, and maybe we could take that. She would call me at our room, in a few min. She called and said that she spoke to the captain and that 12:30 is sufficient time to get back to the main island and driven to the airport. I don’t understand what the captain knows about check in at the airport when he himself never goes to the airport and doesn’t fly? I stopped arguing as it was useless. The ride back took 25 min, we waited for taxi for 15 min, and he took his good old time of getting us to the airport in slow 20 min. by now it was 1:30….check in closed in 20 min and there was a huge line that extended to the outside of the terminal. Needless to say check in closed and we missed out flight! After spending $1382 on new tickets, time and nerves, we were finally home.
As a whole, we left with a feeling of have been robbed. There was nothing special about it, all our relaxing for the 10 days was thrown away by un-corporation to take us back in good time for our flight back, so all we did was worry. The place was just ok for the money, and trust me, money is no object, it’s the principle. Since most people who stay there could care less, the price named is paid with no objections….even if it’s out of this world unreasonable!
Turks And Caicos are beautiful islands, and we will be going back there, just NOT to Parrot Cay.

For the past few years we (6 family members) have rent a high-end villa in Tuscany for a week, and loved it . Due to back up at the Italian embassy we could not get a VISA for our nanny in a time manner. We searched with our travel agent for the nicest property we could find in a country that did not require a visa for our nanny. We rented a 3 bedroom villa at Parrot Cay. The villa came with a full-time butler, who was world-class, catering to every whim possible. He had previously worked at a como property in Bali and was simply amazing... The views, spa, beach (beach activities), food, and service was perfect. Food felt like it was from a Michelin star restaurant (complex and tasty). We ordered room service everyday for a week and did not get tired of it. This is a world-class place. I would not recommend this place for people on a budget looking to splurge because the room rate is just the starting point of the costs... The resort’s cost structure is very high because they have to import almost everything other than some fresh fish and vegetables, and they do pass along these costs. (but that’s also the point, you have total seclusion)
In the end, we got very luck the Italian embassy was backed up.

Parrot Cay is a nice place to go but overpriced in my opinion and lacking something to have complete satisfaction. I know, a lot of folks posting a "5" to this hotel. I just do not get it and let me explain why:
The hotel is placed in a wonderful beach but with boring sorroundings. Yes, I know, the turks and caicos, like the Bahamas, are flat and boring and you would not expect the lushness of the South Pacific or the Seychelles or even the caribbean volcanic islands, like St John. But even the Maldives, also flat, have a better feeling to them.
The resort is OK, but totally overpriced. The villas are nice but the "normal" rooms have a spartan feeling. No views, rustic floors, wooden walls (some with connecting doors where youo can listen the other couples?TV choices and other entertaining stuff not to be mentioned here. OK if you were paying 300 USD or so but in this case you would expect more.
The two restaurants, also a bit expensive (70-120 USD per person) but the main problem are the extremely narrow choices. After five days, you do not know what else to choose.
The Spa is fine, probably the best part of the experience but a surprise expects you: difficult to book although you never see anyone around.
Overall, the place feels a bit boring (not a lot of help from guest services, by the way), a bit "out of place" (you never know if you are in the caribbean or in Indonesia as the staff is Asian ; that is no problem) and the best thing is that you see very few people, so you feel a bit on your own.
When we left the island, we had a feeling that "ok, fine but we have been to far better and more interesting places". The three couples who left with us had the same unexciting feeling; I am sure they are not the ones who write the "5" reviews, that I can tell you.
