This was our 3rd holiday in Phuket, second to the resort and first to the Dusit. It was by far our best holiday, the hotel was perfect, nice room, friendly staff and the hotel was small enough to be recognised by staff and feel at home. We could see the Ocean from our room and could step outside to the lovely gardens, pool or beach. The restaurants were all of an excellent qulaity and we cannot wait to go back. The very best part was a visit from the baby elephants which made our holiday. We had the advantage of seeing the brand new pool villas while we were there and if any one likes luxury they are your rooms.

We stayed at the Dusit Laguna for 10 nights in July and had an absolutely fantastic time. We had been worried about staying in a hotel with 3 small children but the staff and facilities were wonderful - all the staff did everything posisble to ensure that (and hence us) had a lovely time. We had interconnecting sea view rooms in the newly renovated section which were lovely. Very well furnished and drinking water and bowls of fruit provided daily. If you rang for your room to be made up they were there as you left the room. We had meant to eat out of the hotel but we found the food and the service excellent at the restaurants and so ate in house most of the time. Yes it is expensive but the quality was great and kids under 12 eat for half price and under 4s eat for free. We can definitely recommend the Thai restaurant as we ended up eating there 5 times. The fish restaurant, the Italian and the pool side cafe were all good as well. The sea was too rough for us to go into but we loved the pool so didn't feel that we missed out. We also attended a wedding at the chapel and reception at the hotel (the reason for us going) and had a great time there as well. Overall an excellent stay with particularly charming and helpful staff.

The Dusit Laguna is located close to the sea shore and next to a laguna where it is possible to find other hotels, a golf course and condominiums. There is a hotel pass that allows for Bath 600 to take advantage of the amenities of others hotels. Unfortunately, the Banyan Tree doesn't participate to this programme. That means that the swimming pool area can be quite crowded with non Dusit clients whore arrive with their children : the place was very busy at times ! We booked a club room which was spacious enough, confortable and functional. Design was quite uninspired, though. There was a "patio" in front of the room with a pair of sunbeds. the pity is that it was open to all eyes. Another advantage of the club room : an exclusive place to eat your breakfast. Breakfast was not particularly generous nor well presented but adequate. Other restaurants were not very exciting and quite expensive considering the reasonable rates applied to the rooms and the various alternatives in the neighbourhood, both inexpensive and quite good for those who appreciate Thai food. staff was polite and helpful, nice and smiling but not always properly trained. Language was a problem from time to time, too. All in all, this hotel deserves neither laudative marks, nor exacerbed critiscism : it is just average. Rates are reasonable and offerings fall short of discerning travellers' expectations.
