Stayed at the Pestana for 5 nights. Loved the hotel. Oppulent surroundings but friendly accomodating staff. The rooms (garden room) are ordinary enough and noisy. Breakfast was very good. Pool area great but got very busy at the end of the day as people returned to the hotel. Was too busy on the saturday afternoon. It really is a haven in a beautiful city but if I were to go again I would chose the room carefully (Room 1010, Casa Belem).

Wow...... and wow again. Everything was perfect. The palace itself in which the hotel truly is situated is breathtaking. The frescos and decor are in fabulous condition, and it has wonderful ambience. We felt really welcome and at ease.
The staff could not be better - friendly, helpful, exceptionally professional, caring and good humour.
Beds and rooms are comfortable, restaurant is stunning, good wine list.
This ranks as one of our top 10 hotels ever!

I just returned from a 6-night business stay in Hotel Pestana Palace in Lisbon. The hotel occupies a beautiful 19th century palace with two modern wings, nicely fit into a fantastic garden, rich of shadow, which is nice in this hot climate. The outside swimming pool is also a beauty. Returning from work in the afternoon it is an oasis in the hot city.
I had a superior room with garden view in one of the new wings. However, there was nothing to see as a very large tree blocked the view completely and made the room quite dark during the day. The room is styled in a classical way. Excellent bed and bed linen. There was a good desk in the room and wireless internet did work without any problem (EUR 10.00 per day, or EUR 50.00 per week). Overall the staff is very attentive and friendly. Without any doubt this is a good hotel, worth its five stars.
I choose this hotel because the congress information said it was 10 minutes walking to the Lisbon Congress Centre. This is not exactly true: downhill to the Congress Centre it is indeed 10 minutes, but back to the hotel is uphill, and I mean very steep uphill, which takes you at least 15-17 minutes in the burning sun. This misleading information was given by the congress organizer, so the hotel is not to blame for it! The hotel is located in a quiet residential area. The downside of this is that it is far away from everything and you need a taxi all the time (not expensive). The free shuttle service from the hotel runs only a few times a day. Taxi from the airport is about EUR 12.00, so no need to buy a taxi voucher at the airport, which costs EUR 20.00!

Relaxing, luxury hotel, off the beaten track

The hotel is quiet luxury hotel in a very quite neighborhood off the beaten path in Lisbon. While not exactly close to anything, it is between a lot of useful sites to see in Lisbon.
The main building of the hotel is a restored 19th century 'mansion' with a nice restaurant and bar area. The rooms and other facilities are in modernist designed wings. They are well appointed and at least some have nice views.
The grounds also have a tranquil garden and pool facility. They are quiet peaceful and picturesque.
The hotel is great if you want to spend a quiet get away from the rest of Lisbon. The surrounding neighborhood is residential with a few restaurants and shops geared towards Lisboans. At least one direction (west) of the hotel seemed a bit sketchy, but the property itself appears safe and self-contained.
If you're looking to spend romantic time (on the weekends) or business conference in a tranquil setting then this might be for you.

Sincerely..one of the best places I have been. The gardens took my breath away. When you reach the SPA area, my god...it?s so relaxing. We spent 4 nights at this amazing palace. The rooms are quite nice (if you can ask for a room on the west wing. They have the best view). We booked it directly with the hotel. As they explained they often have promotions so sometimes it?s better to book through them rather then a travel agency. It was for the easter and as soon as we arrived they had a welcome port wine on the front desk to welcome us as well as some chocolat almonds(the chocolat was made at the hotel). The concierge really helpfull, the front desk always looking after us and in the restaurant we had one of the best meals in lisbon. If you are interested in a good Fado restaurant the concierge recomended us Faia and it is really good. Next year if I can I will go there again... ;)
