Perfect Location

The Hotel Albatroz is located perfectly within Cascais just a minute's walk from the train station, beach and centre of the village with restaurants, shops and bars. Yet is offers a quiet and secluded pool area overlooking the beach, with two smallish swiming pools and nice sunloungers and sunshades. The restaurant overlooks the beach/sea and has a nice outside space for meals. Breakfast was excellent with a wide range of cereals, breads and fruits as well as a cooked assortment of meats etc. The bedrom we stayed in was like staying in a light house all white walls and portholes, it was small, but perfectly adequate. If you want a hotel that feels homely, offers some unique character and is close to the 'action' this is perfect. One thing to note there are no irons in the rooms or available, and if you want anything ironed you will need to pay for the service, e.g. short sleeved shirt 7 Euros.
Beautiful hotel, front desk service horrible!

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for our anniversary and were delighted upon arrival: the place is gorgeous! Our room was wonderful, the beach was great and sitting poolside was perfect. The restaurant was overpriced and overrrated..definately leave the building and go into town for better dining choices.
The front desk help was not customer-service oriented and quite frequently rude: surprising for such a nice place. We had received a package deal when we booked through American Express and they were very unhappy about honoring it. We stayed in 4 different cities in Portugal during our stay and the service here was by far the worst of all!
Definately a beautiful place and great location but very disappointing service...
Great spot

Stayed in Albatroz in January 2008 and it is a wonderful hotel. Our room was 802 and our balcony opened onto the sea. Wonderful. The breakfast room had wall to wall windows of the beach and sea. The weather in January was lovely - great walking weather. Be careful however as the Aer Lingus flights get into Lisbon at about 9am and the hotel check in is generally 3pm. The grand plan was to leave our bags in a luggage locker at the train station and explore Lisbon for the day. However Rossio train station in the city centre was closed for repairs and Cais de Sodre station is open but there is construction work there and therefore no luggage lockers. We had no option but to take the train at Cais de Sodre out to Cascais - a 20 minute trip along the coast which was very pleasant. The hotel is a short walking distance from the train station at Cascais so no big deal. The room was available so we were able to check in early. The hotel was very quiet and so we didn't eat there at night at all. There are lots of restaurants in Cascais and we ate fresh fish every night. It was great. There is a lovely walk along the promenande for about 2km towards Estoril. We went to Sintra which is about a ?15.00 taxi ride from Cascais and it is definately a place to see with wonderful palaces and a very pretty town. Both Cascais and Sintra were quiet at this time of year and I think that the place might not be so pleasant in the searing heat of summer when it is full of people. The beaches in Cascais are small so teeming bodies lying like sardines might not be great but if you are looking for a romantic break for a few days between October and March you can't do better and you can't stay in a better hotel than the Albatroz. I would highly recommend it. On a final note we booked the hotel service for return to the airport and it was ?75 which was a bit steep.

The Hotel Albatroz at Cascais is an excellent place to stay. We enjoyed both a room in the old part oozing with character and in the new part with private bacony overlooking the pool and sea. The restaurant is very nice; great food but with a casual atmosphere. Staff very friendly and helpful. A good place to base yourself outside of Lisbon and especailly for the Estoril Moto GP!!
Outside of the hotel is a maze of cobbled streets with many shops and restaurants, a large marina and some superb architecture.

My husband and I only spent one night at this lovely hotel. I wish we could have stayed longer. We chose the Albatros Hotel as it had such good reviews and we were not disappointed. It is in a fab location right by the beaches of Cascais with all the shops and restaurants right on its door step.
We had a lovely room with amazing sea views even though we had only booked a city view room. The hotel has two salt water pools that are right on the cliff edge overlooking the beaches and sea. It was great to sit on the sun lounger drinking wine whilst watching all the boats come and go, and looking down at the crowds on the beach. Perfect.
