This is an excellent Hotel!! Before we stayed in Amathus Limassol several times but this time we decided to explore Paphos and of course we choose Paphos Amathus since we trust a lot this hotel group. The hotel is quite different from Amathus Limassol but everything was just perfect as well. We had a Sea view room and it was just lovely! I think if we come to paphos next time maybe we shall take even a suite. They have very good cousine and all restaurants have something different so you may choose what you like the best. I like Amathus Spa very much and this time I also took some treatments. So in general everything was excellent but this is what we expected from this hotel. I higly recommend this property to evrybody!

What a hotel - booked with First Choice and our rep Kate was really nice, everything ran really smoothly, can't fault them at all!
Fabulous lagoon style pool and the swim up bar is just wicked, the cocktails are amazing, tried a few I hadn't before, which is always good.
There were lots of kids there when we were over there but I guess seeing as this hotel isn't adults only (shame); and am used to adults only all inclusives so a bit of an eye-opener really!
Rooms are top quality, very comfortable.
Nu Bar has an excellent Elton John tribute on Tuesday evenings, don't laugh but he really is quite good and the bar was always packed. Don't bother going any other time as it is pretty much dead and the other singers are not that good!!! ha ha. The drinks are yummy in this bar, especially the pink moet, the Alina wine and the Long Island Ice Tea. Don't mix them though, like I did, or else you can end up very drunk indeed!!! lol!
The asia chi restaurant is top draw but quite expensive, if you venture outside to the right hand side of the hotel there is a nice thai called 'Koi' which is lovely. Again all restaurants seem to have a good selection of imported wine and champagne, which is always a bonus. They even do Ruinart over there which I was impressed with. Also the italian restaurant is nice there too.
The hotel also has some cats that hang around which are lovely, they are so cute, and sit on the sun loungers.
The Spa is great, I had a facial there and bought some Decleor products, top treatments and very kind staff.
Met some nice people around the pool and in the bars in the evenings, were very friendly, but that depends on when you go I guess!
The breakfasts were ok, didn't bother going down everyday as it did get really busy and the staff were a bit thin on the ground and a bit rude....It was a buffet but hit and miss as regards if you actually got asked if you wanted coffee/tea/toast etc. As we booked BB we got a free HB upgrade which was ok for lunch or dinner but to be honest the best food is to be found outside of the hotel....I have a serious food allergy and when asked what some of the dishes contained the staff didn't know and made no effort to find out. One night i had to take medication as one of the olive oils wasn't labelled correctly and contained basil/pesto which iam allergic to.......fun and games!
The decor of the hotel is very modern and like a boutique hotel, would definately return, going to book again for 2009 with my girlfriends for a party-time week away!

We have just returned from a weeks stay at the Amathus I can honestly say It was the perfect holiday.
The food was great with various restaurants to eat in and all the staff were very happy, helpful, polite and friendly.
The seating in and out of the hotel was very good and the room was very nice we had a side sea view. drinks were a little on the expensive but this is a 5 star Hotel.
People who give this hotel negatives must be looking for UTOPIA.
We are going back next year as many of the guests return year after year.

The hotel is set in beautiful and very well-tended grounds on the beach. Our room was spacious with glorious views over the pool and the sea. The staff were friendly, caring and helpful with altogether the right attitude to make for a pleasant stay. The management, however, showed a different and rather prescriptive attitude ranging from instructions not to put anything in the minibar which had not been purchased in the hotel (would that include milk we bought outside for morning tea?) and not to consume anything in the room which had been bought outside the hotel "in accordance with international hotel regulations". What regulations were these, we wondered. There were too many small mistakes made in the way the room was serviced - non replacement of used items, for example - the fact that the mini-bar was only serviced six days out of 14 and on two of those days it was restocked with the wrong items.( One result of this is that you have to order the replacement items from room service and pay an extra room service charge). Drinks were served in the wrong glasses. In one section of the breakfast room diners helped themselves to juices etc from dipensers. Try that in another section of the same room and take orange juice from a jug and you risk a sharp reprimand "I'll take that to your table if you don't mind, sir". Some inconsistency here.
We booked half board which was a mistake as there are many restaurants nearby. The hotel has two expensive restaurants - the AsiaChi and La Rotisserie where the food and service were excellent and you get a discount for being on half-board. But the other two restaurants, the Luna Rosa and the Byzantiumn coffee shop which are included in the half-board terms, usually have the same menus which feature buffets which seem to differ from night to night in name only. There are few dishes which distinguish the flambe buffet from the Mediterranean buffet, or the BBQ buffet, or the carvery buffet. And once the food has been put in chafing dishes it is left to dry out and go hard. We never saw any dishes being refreshed. There is a set menu as an alternative which is passable. Breakfasts, however, are spectacular. A huge choice, dishes constantly being refreshed, eggs and omelettes cooked to order , vast quantities of fesh fruit, pastries, juices - even sparkling wine.
The pool is excellent, the weather was terrific, the staff helpful - but it doesn't add up to "Leading hotels of the world" status from our point of view.
