We stayed at the k?nigshof for 1 night in July. We have been coming to Munich regularly 2-3 times a year for the past 12 years and tried all different hotels. Now we have finally found one that will become our regular.
The hotel is very ugly on the outside but beautiful on the inside. Better than the other way around. Lovely rooms and bathrooms, the staff is extremely nice and you just feel comfortable here. The location is great, everything is in walking distance. The lobby and rooms have been decorated very tastefully.
We ate in the restaurant and it was a perfect evening. You have a wonderful view of the Stachus. Food was absolutely delicious and service was great without being stuffy. Lovely restaurant!! This is the place to be in Munich!!

I stayed at this hotel in early Dec. 2007 to visit the Christmas Markets. The hotel was lovely as was my room. Service was great and the front desk staff tried harder than any to accomodate our requests. The bar staff was also wonderfful allowing us smokers to go in early in the morning and get coffee, before they were really open. I would definitely stay here again.

Decided to stay here for the Christmas markets based on selective review of trip advisor reviews...Wasn't sure whether to expect a great hotel or a nightmare.
This hotel has a fabulous location - easy walk to the train station for day trips and easy walk to Marienplatz and beyond. The room was lovely and the service was fabulous. Last minute dinner reservations - not a problem -although the front desk staff (and I do mean the whole staff) actually worked at it for hours. My fault, I didn't realize just how crowded it gets in Munich on a weekend in December.
One morning I wanted coffee before anything was open - the doorman opened up the bar for me and got me coffee from somewhere. I actually kept saying it wasn't a problem, I could wait, but he wouldn't hear of it...
I would stay at this hotel again any time...

My husband had to go to Munich for a few days for work and, since we only live a few hours away, I made the drive down since the company was paying for the hotel. This is a WAY nicer place than we usually stay in...we settle for clean, safe, and inexpensive so we were extremely pleased when we found we were staying here. It's in an excellent location...right near the shopping and only 10-15 minute walk from the Hofbräuhaus. It's very elegant and all of the staff were extremely helpful and pleasant. Their normal price is a bit out of our price range but for a special occasion it's definitely worth the money!

We went to Munich for a much needed two night break at the end of July. We selected the Konigshof because it is well located, was billed as 5 star and seemed to have a nice classical feel to the hotel. We were looking to stay in an atmospheric old hotel and the pictures on the hotel website of interior rooms and areas left us with the impression that it was an old hotel - of course given that the website contains no exterior photo of the hotel, I should have been suspicious. When we arrived we found that the hotel was anything but old or classical. From the outside it looks like a cube box with cladding and neon signs, as the photo indicates. Inside it is all modern, albeit some of the furniture and rooms hanker after a by gone era in style.
Perhaps if we had been aware that this is a modern hotel and not an old classical establishment, we might have been better prepared. Inside the common areas are a bit souless and the bar is small and characterless. The bedroom was fine - big, clean and well appointed - very quiet, despite being streetside and beside a tram stop. The main thing that this hotel has going for it is the service and attentiveness of the staff - they are faultless in their clear desire to put their guests first. It really offered first class service. Although we did not eat dinner in the hotel, the breakfast and room service food was excellent.
So if you are looking for five star service in a well located, but modern and characterless hotel, then this might just be for you! Over the weekend we found ourselves won over by the hotel despite our initial bad first impressions.
