Magnificent Palace hotel right on the beach in Biarritz. Best location in town, best food in town with Michelin starred and deserved food. New spa is excellent. When i last stayed here it was the one thing lacking and we had to go to another hotel for spa treatments. Now they have added their own and it is right up with the best and matches all the other hotel facilities. Try to book a room overlooking the sea. The best are the junior suites.
I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Biarritz.

Was nearly put off by some of the reviews here especially the comments about the hotel being unfriendly. I'm glad to report we found everything to be top notch.
Its cost use ?332 pn to stay at the end of June - thats about ?100 dearer than the something like the radison sas. Beleive me the difference is worth it.
One should realise the difference between 5 star and 4 star is huge. On top of that the Hotel du Palais offers something extra unique - all that history. If you could stay at Buckingham palace for ?330 would you consider that too expensive, or worth it for the experience. Prince Phillip - the queens hubbie stayed in the Hotel du Palais as did Gregory peck, France Sinatra, Charlie Chaplin, Buster Keaton.
For that extra bit of cash you get the absolute best location ever, access to a great spa, very professional massages, very friendly service, huge room - if you ask and a great outdoor pool area.
One shouldn't be suprised about the price of ordering as these places are always dear but its worth remembering two things.
1. You dont have to order anything - no one will mind.
2. If you do order your cup off coffee for ?6.50 you are paying for the exquisite room you are privilaged to sit in while you drink it and the man playing the grand piano. I think its worth it.
I should add that eating well for less than I am used to paying is easy to do elsewhere in Biarritz. its a lovely town with friendly people and a good vibe.

Disappointing room allocation policy
Guest name: TripperEurope1, Europe
We stayed at Hotel du Palais off season, the place was as good as empty except for some seminars. We were given a small room with a tiny bathroom and so-so view for only a little under the highest listed price. This is not, we believe, a very clever policy. If you charge a small fortune and you have plenty rooms available than you should make sure your few clients get the best rooms, not the worst. This makes no loss of revenue and ... happy guests. If you, dear fellow travelers, should decide to indulge there make sure to refuse the second floor and it's small windows, (unless, as was suggested, you are the kind of people who like crammed quarters) because other floors have larger windows and balconies. Since we complained we got a 80 ?/Day rebate, the equivalent of what they charge for a delicious continental breakfast for two.
Besides this - serious - room allocation problem we are happy to report that everything else is as you would expect from such a place, stylish, lavish with extremely pleasant service all over.
must try

Hotel du Palais is an expensive hotel. But the view is spectacular. The room is huge. The gym is new and well equipped. Restaurant offers very good wines and food. Staff are kind. Location is perfect, close to everything from shopping to sight seeing.
