We chose to stay here last weekend because we wanted to bring our dog and to be near the west end of the island. There was one harassed desk clerk trying to handle the telephones and the guests checking in all by herself, but she did her best and was very pleasant to me. The room was comfortable and clean, and the breakfast was quite adequate. We would stay here again.

The room was clean, but the professionalism of the staff was greatly lacking!! We booked to stay 4 nights and checked out early because when we woke up after the 3rd night the electricity was off and had been. The room became a hot box and then there was no hot water!! We left for the day only to return at night and the electricity was still off. No flood lights and the stair ways were dark!! Very hazardous. We asked the front desk when power would be back on. They said 9:15pm, so we waited in the dark and in the heat. At 9:30pm we packed up using our cell phone lights to pack up. What great fun, huh?? We left at 9:45pm and the front desk said we would not be charged for the 4th night and to call back in the morning to verify and hopefully the electricity will be back on then! We went just over the Comfort Suites. It was much nicer, more professional and a better deal all around!!

Rude staff on phone!
Guest name: CarrieBearie, Encinitas, CA
My husband and I and our two dogs WERE going to stay at this hotel, but after talking to some very rude gal on the phone, we will stay elsewhere!! Even if it means staying in Houston instead. They're one of the crazy places that only allows dogs up to 25 pounds! Come on! I question if they really qualify as "dogs" if they're UNDER 25 pounds!! But mostly I'm peeved because the receptionist at the hotel was not friendly or trying to be helpful from the get-go and then basically hung up on me!! It was very hard to get through on the phone, and to finally do so and meet up with that response - well, just fuggedaboudit!!!!

Had no problems with the hotel the staff were friendly and the comments on the free breakfast were over critical okay the selection is small and you wait in line a lot but you could always go out for breakfast.
Rooms were of a good size with firm beds and good linen towels were clean soft and plentiful and rooms generally well maintained fridge and microwave both worked
Particulary liked the 3 PC.s with free internet acess available 24 hours a day

Hadn't been to Galveston in two years and needed a quick break. I was surprised almost no hotels accepted dogs (I have a small, well-behaved Shih-Tzu.), so was led to this one. Honestly, otherwise I wouldn't even have considered a hotel in this chain. It was beautiful! New, very clean, rooms are large and nearly every one of them comes with a balcony. Nice furniture and decor. There is a kind of armoire hiding the microwave and fridge, and there is a safe in the closet. They also have the usual coffeemaker. The TV had good viewing selections and a good picture. And yes, you DO have a view of the Gulf--a pretty darned good one! I prefer the east side to the front, because I don't like sun blasting into my room all day, and most of these rooms were either east or west--a couple larger rooms faced front. The balconies are slanted toward the Gult as is typical of many Galveston seawall properties.
Ms. Mitchell at the front desk has been there since the hotel opened, she tells me. I had made the arrangements through her over the phone and enjoyed seeing her at the front desk. Very personal service by her, the manager, Ms. Ghandi, and other desk people. Food was plentiful and yes, everybody wanted to be there at the same time for breakfast, but they do have a spill-over room with another microwave that was quieter and very pleasant.
Oh, and I noticed in photos of these rooms they look pretty dark. That's because what you don't see is the opened door next to the window that leads to the balcony. Don't know what that door isn't glass, but it is steel so when open, the room is not really dark.
Parking is at the lower level, but it is open so is bright and feels safe. Conveniently placed elevators take you either to your floor or to the lobby.
Only real negative is that the airport is a mile behind it, and while mostly I noticed nothing coming or going, at 8 p.m. I heard a jet that sounded like it was right on top of us. The sound came suddenly and quickly got closer. I found out from a witness at the pool that It was a commuter-type jet that was taking off over us and went out over the gulf. It scared me!!! I don't know how often that happens, but I didn't like it. At least if it happens again I'll know what it is.
I'm going back as soon as I can. Twenty-four hours there made me feel great but i look forward to a longer stay next month. I definitely recommend this place.
