The location and hotel property are fine. The room is a good value for what you are paying. A bit of an odd set up with the bathroom sink in the main room rather than in the bathroom or off to the side.
The real problem with this property is the customer service. We had booked a non-smoking two bed room. Upon check in we found that we had been assigned to a smoking two bed room. The young man at the counter offered a one bed non-smoking as an alternative. No apology was offered for having made a mistake on our reservation. He also never smiled or welcomed us to the hotel. We felt we were imposing on his time. An abberation in customer service? Unfortunately not.
The following morning, we went to breakfast. Very nice breakfast spread. Waffle making machine for you to make your own waffles. Great idea, but the instructions for use are posted in tiny letters on the waffle maker. Being over 40 and not yet having any coffee, I missed the instructions the first time. I pour my batter in the machine, lower the lid and it starts beeping. The machine wants to be turned over. A staff member walks over, flips the machine over and walks off. No good morning and again no smile. My wife and I watched this same scene repeat itself with each new customer. This staff member never spoke to or made eye contact with a single customer.
Hey, it's an inexpensive hotel and a good value for what it is. But, smiles and hellos don't cost anything. Next visit, I'll move on to one of the other hotels in the same area.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. The hotel is in a safe and convenient area with many restaurants and shops within a short distance. The property was well-maintained and service personnel friendly. Will stay here again !
Worth the money however improvement needed

Husband and I stayed for 3 nights (22, 23, and 24 Dec) and found the room is pleasant and clean for the price. The staff during the check in is wonderful, however I was a little baffled when I asked her to quote me the room rate for Dec 26 when I supposed to return to Tucson from Vegas and her quote was more expensive (approx $10 more) than what La quinta website quoted me. Because of that, I ended up made a booking through the website instead.
The breakfast was okay, however I was disappointed to find my yoplait raspberry yoghurt was 2 days past the 'best before' date and I only found out about this after I ate half of the tub! I didnt think I need to check because usually most hotels were really strict about this kind of thing. I didnt get sick or anything, but just be careful before someone DO get sick one day.
Our stay on Dec 26 was pleasant overall, didnt have any problem at all.

My husband and I stayed here on Dec.25. checking out 26th on our way to Deming NM...to visit relatives. We found the Marana LQ very nice, friendly and clean! We got a good rate from the website. We got there around 6pm Christmas Day. The young man at the desk was helpful in suggesting some restaurants to
dine at however, all were closed so we dinned at McDonalds (first time to have Christmas Dinner at McD's!) I was a bit dissapointed that there was not one decoration up in the hotel but there was alot of construction going on in the lobby. They did wish us Merry Christmas at the desk tho! The room was clean and nice. We really enjoyed our breakfast bc we were hungry!!! I liked the container they put the waffle batter in, it seems to keep it fresher. A man from the office walked through to check on things and see that all was satisfactory...it was a quick stay but all was very nice. It was a nice break on the way to the La Quinta in Deming NM. We would definately stay again.

We just spent 4 days/nights in Tucson and found the hotel to be of exceptional value! The rooms were clean, spacious and very comfortable.
We had 3 rooms for 7 adults and 2 children. A suite with a full kitchen, a deluxe king room and a room with 2 queen beds. Each of the rooms came with a loveseat sized pull-out sofa, that would easily accomodate 1 adult or 2 small children. We actually had beds to spare.
Although there was a small mixup in my reservation the manager was quick to help me resolve it satisfactorily. In fact every member of the staff that we encountered was friendly and very helpful.
We spent quite a bit of each day away from the hotel and always came back to freshly cleaned and restocked rooms. There was some renovations going on while we were there but it was never a hindrance.
The continental breakfast was a real treat after the ones we have had at other hotels. Although my family did say that I should give the cook my recipe for waffles.
As others have mentioned the freeway construction through downtown Tucson can be a bit of a bother for some, we really did not feel we were inconvenienced at all. Especially since it did not affect getting to the hotel. The hotels location is extremely convenient to dozens of stores and restaurants.
Last but not least, I have only 2 suggestions for the hotel. Replace the spare blankets that are handed out at the desk. They are very rough and I ended up buying a spare blanket for one of my sons. And you might think about adding a full sized coffee maker to the suites with kitchens. Maybe that's just us, as we are huge coffee drinkers.
Thanks for a great place! We are already thinking of coming back next year.
Cheryl
