Horrible! Upon checking in we discovered dried blood on our supposedly clean pillow case and when we called the front desk we were informed that due to the hour housekeeping would not be available until the next day. We were in Redding to attend a wedding of which we had the address of the wedding site which was situated behind a deli in a wooded grove, we asked at the front desk if they could direct us to the deli or to the street address on our invitation. The person at the front desk answered with an unhelpful, "gee, maybe we've been living under a rock, but never heard of it". GEE THANKS! I cannot recommend this place to anyone and that is an understatement.

IF YOU REQUIRE A WHEELCHAIR ACCESSIBLE ROOM, YOU MUST NOTIFY THE HOTEL OF THAT IN ADVANCE. DO NOT JUST BOOK A "HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE ROOM". Read more below.
I have now stayed here two times within the past month, once with my disabled (wheelchair bound) mother with advanced reservations and once with my husband without advanced reservations.
I agree with other reviewers that this hotel is clean, neat and above average. The rooms are large and comfortable and surprisingly quiet on the north side of the hotel. The hotel has cut a few corners presumably to be able to offer the more competitive rates, but these minor cost saving measures (for example shampoo and soap only provided) did not significantly detract from our overall experience.
When my husband and I stayed, the TV remote was missing the plastic cover for the battery compartment. Presumably staff had scotch taped a piece of cardboard over it which fell off and would not stay on while the remote was being used so I had to hold the batteries in place while using the remote.
Upon departure, I brought this to staff's attention and they said they would take care of it. Based on my interactions with staff, I am SURE if I had called the front desk as soon as I discovered the remote problem, they would have had a different remote delivered to our room promptly. I didn't bother to do that so that's on me.
IMPORTANT INFO FOR DISABLED GUESTS:
We booked a handicapped accessible room on line (I don't remember through which website). When we arrived, at 6 p.m., there were only two handicapped parking spots on our side of the hotel and they were both taken. We had to park in front of the hotel to get to our room. There is no handicap automatic door assist, so you must manage the door and the wheelchair by yourself. No staff person offered to assist me get my mother in her push wheelchair through the door.
Once we got to the room, a table was arranged in such a way as to impede wheelchair access. We easily rearranged the table and then had plenty of room. The handicap access clothes bar in the closet had no hangers on it and it was a "closed unit" so you could not take hangers from the upper bar and move them to the lower bar.
Bathroom:
Toilet seat seemed lower than even a normal household seat. You could not get to the tub/shower combo if in a wheelchair because the bathroom door blocked access to the tub! Handrails were not right height or location to properly assist a wheelchair bound guest. After trying all maneuvering possible, we finally called the front desk to ask that a maintenance person come and remove the bathroom door from the hinges so my mother could gain access to bathe. The front desk person asked if she was in a wheelchair and I told her yes. She asked if I had reserved a WHEELCHAIR accessible room. I told her I had only been offered the option online of a handicapped accessible room. She said we were put in the wrong room - they have 4 (I think) wheelchair room and 2 "handicap accessible" (i.e. not wheelchair accessible) rooms.
The hotel offered to let us use the bathroom facilities of one of the wheelchair rooms once it was cleaned. About 20 minutes later, it was ready. It is very difficult for my mother to dress and change, so we chose to wheel her through the halls in her nightclothes to get to the other room instead of dress to go through the halls to undress so she could bathe. Her privacy was very compromised throughout this visit.
At checkout, before I could say anything, the manager told me she had "adjusted" the price for us because of the inconvenience and mistake. SHE WAIVED THE ENTIRE TWO NIGHT CHARGE!! Even though I told her we were not looking to get free accommodations, we just didn't want this to happen to anyone else again, she insisted on not charging us a dime for the room.
I DO recommend this hotel. I am not trying to tell you how to take advantage of the situation but to emphasis that you must make sure you are reserving a wheelchair accessible room. If I were to do it again and booked on line, I would folow up with a phone call directly to the hotel (not their 800 #) and make sure they noted on the reservation it must be wheelchair accessible. In all my many years of extensive travel, I have NEVER had a hotel manager so responsive, understanding and generous. When, several weeks later, my husband and I found ourselves in need of a room in Redding, this was the first hotel I contacted and was overall satisfied with our stay.

We stayed in La Quinta in Redding as the first stop in our Northern California and Oregon road trip. The hotel is conveniently located near Interstate 5 and there are many restaurants along Hilltop Drive. Ross and Kmart are also nearby.
The room we got was actually comfortable and very clean. The full beds were not too hard nor too soft to sleep on. Continental breakfast was free as well as wifi. The express checkout was very convenient since we did not have to go to the front desk anymore.
The only sort of negative comment I have is that the girl in the front desk did not have much of an idea about nearby attractions. I had to ask the waiter at IHOP where we had lunch for this info.

While the staff is friendly, the hotel is definitely aging. I asked for a bottom-floor room not too close to elevators or doors and was given a room in a great location. However, the room upon entry had a sickly stale smell in it. My mother, who was with me and generally does not mind lower priced lodging, was grossed out. We opened windows and turned on the fan and it dissipated somewhat. In the age of "Fabreez", this should not be an issue.
The beds were in need of replacement. My double had an indention on the most commonly used side. The bathroom door would not latch so my 2 yr old kept trying to enter in on whoever was in the bathroom. Aside from these issues, it was generally clean (although I would not have wanted to go over it with a black light) and the free Wi-Fi and Continental breakfast made it tolerable.
However, both of us felt next time we drive through; we would pay 10-20 dollars more for a newer/better kept hotel.

This hotel was really great. The rooms were huge and the staff was friendly. I loved the fact that Cattlemens was right next door. There were tons of restaurants in the area so we had no problem picking out a place to eat. The room was clean and pretty modern. The hotel lobby was nicely decorated.
