We have just returned from our trip to Busch Gardens. I booked a three night stay at the La Quinta Inn because it was close to the park. I have never had quite an experience in a hotel before. All I can say, by reading some of the reviews for this hotel, is that there must be a section of the hotel that is in better condition than the room we had. Where to start :
Pros:
1. Close to Busch Gardens.
Cons:
1. Location is on the edge of a very questionable neighborhood. The police station is right down the street which would lead you to feel somewhat secure. That is until the sirens start and continue throughout the night.
2. The room was dirty, small and smelly. I asked for a non-smoking room and perhaps it was supposed to be, but the mattresses came from a smoking room. The furniture was held together (repaired?) with dry-wall screws. The best way to sum up the room was leave your socks on & don' t sit on the furniture.
We were up at 6 a.m. the next day searching the internet for a new hotel. Found a much better one, although not as close to Busch Gardens.

We, as most others, booked this due to it's proximity to Busch Gardens. We were not let down by that at all. Great location! Allows you to partake in their wonderful breakfast (waffles, biscuits/gravy, etc.) and still get into the park early. I agree on the shady area, but that seemed to be a good portion of Tampa. We thoroughly enjoyed the mattress, very comfortable - a beauty rest! Overall, we enjoyed our stay here.

This was my second stay at a LaQuinta. First was excellent so we decided to return. Unfortunately we missed the fact there are two LaQuinta's near Busch Gardens. We had previously stayed at the other one. This stay sucked. Our two door keys worked only sporadically, even after having both replaced. Our refrigerator had no control knob and the freezer was ice coated and filthy. Carpeting was stained. Ice maker on our floor didn't work. There was litter in the hall outside our room our entire stay. The morning of checkout we discovered ants in our luggage and not just a few. A call to the desk brought no action but a promise to call the manager. A second call to the desk got the manager. He credited us one night but didn't seem particularly concerned with the situation nor our satisfaction. Even after two stays my rewards account has no stays credited to it. There are too many good choices for moderately priced hotels. I doubt I'll be coming back.

Well, they aren't kidding when they say it's near Busch Gardens. We could see the roller coasters from the parking lot! We stayed there for just one night, and fortunately that was it. Any longer and we might have changed hotels. The neighborhood is not that great, and the hotel is very old, and smelled musty and like stale cigarette smoke, even in our non-smoking room. We were so tired we didn't care though. The beds weren't very comfortable, and they still had old blankets and bedspreads on the beds. Be sure to ask for extra towels when you check in, since there are only two of each in the room--and they are small and thin. Also, be aware that the hotel has outside corridors, and you can hear everything that is happening outside. For $75 a night though, it was okay.

Stayed here last Sunday & Monday nights. Place was not crowded. Staff was
great. Provided information before I asked, to many questions I might have.
Such as do you need a wake up call?
Directions to your room.
Where the ice & vending machine are located.
Where to park. Like right in front of your room. No need to lug anything through
the halls.
Printed Boarding passes for my flight the next day back home with ease.
The rooms are your very basic "stuff" with the sink in the back of room and not
actual in the bathroom. Was unable to quite the bathroom fan without shutting out
the light in the bathroom. The is a Motel in its truest sense.
Place in located a couple 100 feet from the POLICE station so security is for the
most part always present along with the hotels own security guard. Kind of like
being in the local coffee/donut shop. The cops always seem to be around the place
or driving by.
VALUE PRICED worth the money spent.
