My husband and I along with our 2 daughters stayed at the LaQuinta in Brownsville and were very pleasantly surprised. The price was right (we paid $74) and had a very clean room. We had nice, clean bedding (not thread-bare sheets or stained as other hotels we've stayed at). The bathroom, towels, and carpeting in the room were all clean as well. We had a nice complementary breakfast that exceeded the competitions with a wide selection. The staff was very friendly and helpful from check-in to check-out. Our stay was quiet and restful, we even overslept to 9am -almost missing our breakfast! We'll be back on our next trip to South Texas.
p.s. - be sure to visit the Glady's Porter Zoo while in Brownsville. It's a great zoo with a great gorilla exhibit.

This hotel seemed somewhat out of control. There was a threatening atmosphere. The management seemed to condone outrageous behaviours by guests. Complaints were ignored. It seemed a scary place to stay.

Each time we go to visit family in Brownsville, we try a new place that is less than $100.00. This is the first property (after 2 previous) that my husband and I visited where when we left, we noted that we would be willing to come back to again. We didn't hear other guests. Flood lights didn't keep you up all night (Red Roof Inn). My husband is in the tech industry and takes on-line courses and was impressed at how easy it was to get on-line with his laptop.
