We - 3 adults and 2 children - checked into the hotel around 11 p.m. on 7/10/08. We went up to our room and found that there was only 1 bed. (I had called after booking the room to confirm that there would be 2 beds in the room and requested a crib. I was told that there would be 2 double beds, but they could not guarantee that a crib would be available.) When I asked to be moved to another room, the desk clerk told me that they were full and he did not have any other rooms. He also commented that he didn't see what the problem was, as there was a pullout couch in the room. After getting the kids settled, I went down to get a blanket for the crib, which they did have available. At that time the woman desk clerk offered to move us. This was after I was told by the other clerk that there were no other rooms available. At this point, the kids were asleep so we didn't move. When the woman desk clerk delivered the crib, I complained about the marijuana smell coming from a room down the hall. She told me that there was nothing that she could do about it. (She could have called the police or confronted the people in the room where the smell was coming from, but chose to do nothing.) This hotel was rated 2.5 stars by hotwire. Hotwire told me that this was based on customer satisfaction and their visits to the hotel, plus the hotel had recently been renovated. The hotel did not appear renovated to me, although it was clean. The hotel is not in a very good area of Portland - near the minor league baseball statium.

I use these reviews to check places out , but didn't this time because there aren't a lot of places that allow dogs, and LaQuinta does. I should have checked - this is probably the worst LaQuinta I've ever stayed in.
Speaking of dog, anyone could walk in here with anything and you would be able to bring it - bring your sheep! No one ever asked. We came right in the back door, and no problemo~!
No crazy ladies at breakfast. But the shower curtain was moldy at the bottom, there was no shampoo in the room, one soap, and the hair dryer didn't work.
Yes, the floor is filthy. Maybe they need to get that crazy lady back to train the maids to clean the rooms....

The overall hotel was fine following a fairly heavy snow storm. The folks at the desk were very friendly and accomodating at arrival. We were very happy to be there for a Toby Keith concert.
We loved Old Portland.
We were happy to hear of a continental breakfast on the morning of our departure but were very uncomfortable with the behavior of the woman running the room. She was a hyper- mess........in everyones way and acted like we were incapable of making our own simple meals. It seemed like we were all in her way as she continued to get in all of the patrons way as we tried to eat. It was surreal!!! She even said to some older women when they showed up at 8:45 that they were late......even though the breakfast goes until 9. she must have wiped down every thing in that room 50 times. What a piece of work. She is scary. I would eat elsewhere next time. Who needs a control freak, giving constant announcements and proclimations.
Otherwise it was fine. I will never forget that women.

This place was terrible. If you actually plan on sleeping at any point in the night, DON'T stay here!
The fans that they have heating the rooms are loud and the street traffic is CONSTANTLY going all throughout the night. If you are accustomed to the constant breaking of 18 wheelers, and the backing up of delivery trucks, then you might be ok here. The fan for the room came on every three minutes for about 90 secs and then it would shut off. It sounded like someone turning on a power station. When I called to complain, we were offered the option of moving to another room at 2am! After looking at the other room, and realizing that the same type of fan was heating that room as well, I decided it wasn't worth it. When I returned to my room, with 4 extra blankets!!! I decided to turn the heat/fan off completely and hope that the extra blankets would keep us warm. But even when I turned off the unit completely, it still started up every twenty minutes. It was TERRIBLE! I ended up with one of the extra pillows over my head to drown out some noise.
Oh, and did I mention that when I called to complain about the noise, I was offered ear plugs? When I went to the desk to get them, they were in a Value-pack! Obviously I am not the only one to complain about the noise.
We were told that breakfast was held from 7-10am. When we arrived for breakfast at 8:45am, it was then announced that breakfast was ending at 9am! I was so NOT impressed!
In the morning, when I again complained about the noise I was told "This is Portland, of course it's going to be noisy."
I can honestly say that I will never stay at this place again.

This place is what it is...nothing fancy, but a clean, simple room and bed with a continental breakfast. The help was attentive and helpful and it is easy to get to from the highway and close to Hadlock Field if you are headed to a Sea Dogs baseball game. There is plenty of free parking in the lot and several food options within walking distance.
