We've stayed at the Federal Hwy La Quinta several times over the past few years, but had not been since 2006. When we arrived this weekend, we were surprised! The rooms had been remodeled and everything looked great. The beds were really comfortable and the staff was great, especially Elizabeth.
The stairs were being remodeled as we left on 6/16, so the hotel should be looking even better in the next few weeks.

I won this hotel for $60 on Priceline and then read all the terrible reviews. I was so nervous about staying here because I made the arrangements for both my parents and my family. I was expecting an absolute dump. We were staying post cruise so it was only one night. I was pleasantly surprised to find a remodeled hotel that was really nice. The property is still old and they aren't finished with the complete remodel, but the rooms are done and they are done well. It is contemporary, with new furniture, carpets, granite countertops and pretty wood floors in the bathroom area!! Meredith checked us in and she was super nice and did a great job. All other staff did a great job as well. The pool was nice and clean, and we enjoyed our time there. The old reviews that describe this place as "a dump" are no longer fitting... La Quinta has really fixed this place up.

Never Again
Guest name: bj87189, Georgia
Never again will I stay at this hotel. The mattress looked like one used in a jail or something. The water in the bathroom was yellow and the carpet had spots all over that made it look just nasty. Customer service was not good. I will not lodge there again.
WHAT A DUMP!

I stayed at the Laquinta twice in August because the location was convenient and the price was cheap. Never Again! I am now spending extra so that I do not have to stay in a slum. No other words can describe the property. On my first stay, the hotel was overrun with students, who, while friendly, were also camped out all night on the balconies talking. The management made no attempt to clean up the trash the students littered the hallways and pool with. The room was worn out and needed refurbishing. On my second visit, I did not encounter the students, but the room was still subpar with a one inch mattress and alot of grime. The breakfast wasn't bad. That is about the most positive thing I can say about my stays.

La Quinta hotel on N. Federal Highway, Fl. Lauderdale, FL.

I stayed there mid July, 2007 and I didnt realize that there would be 160 European students going to the Language School that is next door and came with a lease for 10 years and LaQuinta housed them. Unfortunately, these kids come with no respect for anything or anyone. The staff had had it with them, it seemed the shaperons (or lack there of) had no control over them. The first room I had was awful, smoking smell, outside and it seemed even if you cleaned the room it would never be cleaned. It seemed like that was the part the wasnt done over. When I made the reservations I always request inside facing the pool, no smoking, so its not like they didnt have any available cause the second room I got was what I requested in the first place. The breakfast was lower thean basic continental, coffee, juice, cereal, frozen english muffins, stale bread, and when I brought it to the attention of the hostess that the creamer was curdled, her reply was thats the way it came in and walked away, I told her I didnt want it, she said throw it in the trash. But when It came time for her to have some toast, she took bread from the back . I never saw anyone cleaning the pool or the area around it considering there was soda cans in the pool and wet papers all around the tables. Im wrinting this to warn people about their quests.
