I should have read the reviews! This hotel is older (motel style) and not worth the money. This was my second LQ stay on the way home from a long trip. The difference between the two were like night and day. The immediate area surrounding the hotel is not attractive with businesses closed. Our room was facing the freeway (bad idea). Had to get first floor as no elevator for my 80 year old mother. It was so noisy, I'm not sure if the rooms on the back side would be any better. The room was somewhat clean except for stains on the carpet. Two of the electrical plugs in the room did not work, so you could either have TV or light / coffee or light (not both). The ice maker on the first floor was broken. There was no hand rail in the bathtub for safety. The breakfast was extremely sparce, only a few items and no fruit. We saw plenty of hotels with easy access on and off I-20. Will choose another on our way back through in August.

My family just took a trip for a funeral located in Tuscaloosa, Al. and decided on this one, because they had a suite ( only 2 available on this property ) and the price was right. I looked on the website and saw some pictures and liked the way it was set up. HINT: The 1-800 number will not tell you that once you book the suite, and a guest decides to stay over, that the property will give you what they have AVAILABLE!!, which puts these wonderfully nice people at the property in a bad position. This property was very clean, has an outdoor pool ( if you want, I would request to have my room near the pool -so call property directly to try and arrange), microwave/ refrigerator- in most, even the air conditioner had been turned on ( 105 degrees ).I had the pleasure of meeting a wonderful person named Jean at the front desk who was very customer service orientated. The 1-800#gauranteed me my suite with my cc# and when I got to the property, the couple in the suite, decided to stay over.I was disappointed at first, but then I had the pleasure of meeting Shirley, The Manager of this property, and she made sure that I was taken care of, above and beyond, that's what you call customer service. I had a King room with a roll away ( which was cheaper ) and I didn't feel like I missed out on not getting the suite. I was around everything within a couple of miles. The expressways,NEW shopping center( Lane Bryant- New York & Co. Kirkland's ), which is across the street from another mall , Red Lobster- Buffalo Wild Wings- Sonic, to name a few. p.s the pictures that they have on the website are correct images.I will stay at this property and recommend it to all. They did accept the costco card.

stayed in May 2008
Stayed here for one night in Jan 2008. Didn't read the reviews before our stay, as I wish I had. We asked for a room on first floor and told there weren't any available. Then we were given a room facing the Interstate, and boy that's noisy! We were tired so that didn't really bother us.
This La Quinta is rather dated - still the style with rooms opening to an outdoor corridor.
Breakfast was ok. We didn't get there until the last 30 minutes, so all the fruit was gone.

The rooms were ok but the outside looks like a motor lodge. We had reserved 8 non smoking but upon check in only 7 non-smoking were available, and one room was not yet clean even though it was time for check-in. Breakfast was limited and the pool was locked.

We tried to move our reservation from this location to another LQ due to heavy rains and delays on I-20. The person at the front desk refused even though it was only 8PM local time. It's not like we asked LQ to take a loss - we asked to be booked into another LQ.
LQ doesn't value its customers' business or safety enough to help them out when travel plans are interrupted. And I hate businesses that make claims like LQ's "We want to do our best for you" but don't mean it. Or maybe LQ's best is really bad.
BTW, we've been Return members since LQ's beginning. The loyalty only goes one way.
