Good Value

We spent a night at the Voyager before driving to the Kenai Peninsula for a week. The Voyager is a very good value. Small hotel with big rooms, quiet, spotlessly clean, great beds. Nothing glamorous about this place, tiny lobby and elevator, friendly service. For breakfast, walk a few blocks to the popular Ski City restaurant, teeming with locals and excellent.
ideal location for downtown

spent 6 nights here in June 2008. The location is quiet and ideal for downtown Anchorage, very close to 5th/6th avenue bars and restaurants, and also the Coastal Trail. You can also walk to the Sagaya Deli market which is useful for campers. The room was very large and a good price for this town. Good blackout curtains. The mattress was REALLY comfortable. We had a good size kitchenette with microwave and fridge. The bathroom was fully equipped inc. power shower. Very handy was the guest laundry room for emptying out rucksacks full of dirty clothes! ($1.50 per large load, there was a drier too) We left some bags there for a few days and when we got back they had put them in our new room - a nice touch. We didn't try the breakfast but I think it was just coffee and buns? There is no parking on site but pick up a 24hr parking permit from the hotel for the lot opposite (think it was about $8 per day, can't remember now) If you need plates etc then ask at reception as they are not in the room initially.

Stayed for 1 night prior to cruise after touring Alaska for a week. This is a great hotel - small (40 rooms), exceptionally clean, staff among the most pleasant I have encountered anywhere - and even on a Sunday afternoon very helpful and well informed about sights and restaurants nearby. We had room with 2 beds - one a regular flat bed (not sofa bed) that nested under a shelf to create a sofa but could easily be pulled out to make a second queen size bed. Kitchen area is m/w, refrig, coffee maker. Although several blocks to anything, Anchorage is so small that this was really irrelevant. Parking in lot across the street. Dark curtains important in June since it never really gets dark outside. Doors must be pulled to close - a nice touch so there is no slamming automatically closing doors in early AM hours.

We're glad we chose this small hotel that is on the outskirts of the tourist section of downtown Anchorage. It is small, nondescript, nothing fancy, but clean and wholesome. Continental breakfast is even served. The staff are not particularly friendly but they are efficient.
It's the location for the price that makes it worth considering. We enjoy walking, and we found good restaurants were just two to five blocks away, the museum and shopping mall some 6 blocks away. We even walked to the train station for the next leg of our trip, and it was pleasant and easy.
Remember - nothing fancy - but safe and pleasant!

The rooms are very nice- very clean and the kitchenette is a plus. They advertise breakfast but we did not consider a cup of coffee and a sweet standing in the lobby a breakfast! The
parking is an irritant because there is a charge after 9:00 A.M. and before 5:00 P.M.
We felt that the price was too high for a hotel that is located in an unattractive part of town with few restaurants near-by!
