We've just got back from a short stay at Lasseters in Alice Springs and found it met all our expectations without being anything spectacular.
We were there for 3 nights and had no complaints, the room was fresh and modern with plenty of room, LCD TV, airy with plenty of light and great air-con if you wanted it. The staff were helpful although a few smiles wouldn't have gone astray.
As a few people have said it is a bit far from the centre of town, about 3km. This is about a $10 taxi fare if you don't have a car, but we found the complimentary bikes were generally available and this was a great way of getting around town.
The food was fantastic, the only problem being that one of the 2 restaraunts was closed for renovations which limited our options a bit, but that should be fixed shortly.
I would recomend this hotel to almost anyone (probably not for a honeymoon though), as it is good value and having the casino onsite is an added bonus.

The first thing to note about Lasseters is it is removed from the city centre; you would really want to have a vehicle or risk a rather lengthy (and hot) walk. Don't book this thinking you can just stroll in to town for a meal because you really can't unless you're quite fit...and eager!
We stayed in a deluxe room with two queen size beds, small balcony (with table and 2 chairs) overlooking the ranges and a separate bathroom with walk-in shower and bath. The room was quite lovely; modern furnishings and crisp white linen. Lots of natural light from the wall to wall window/sliding door -it was in stark contrast to our other accomodation in Alice Springs. There was a small desk, usual tea/coffee facilities. The worst thing about the room was the television - no flat screen, no LCD, no plasma! Standard old fashioned TV that had terrible reception and was unwatchable due to static & noise.
We arrived at the hotel, checked-in within minutes eventually found our room. Check-in staff failed to mention the lifts hidden around the corner from the staircase which would have been nice. To get to the rooms you walk through open air 'breeze-ways' which can leave you hot and bothered if you're lugging 20 kilograms of luggage!
Air-con was super efficient, bathroom spotlessly clean (though they had not changed a half-used shower gel), beds comfy. Rooms were very quiet and well insulated from any noise/heat (we had to turn off the air-con as it was too cold). I would recommend the deluxe rooms over the standard - from what I saw they looked a little depressing. We had a light meal at the casino bar (club sandwich which was only OK, fish n chips were better, coffee dreadful) and breakfast the next morning which was included in the tariff (big buffet with a reasonable amount of choices).
I probably wouldn't stay again for a few reasons :
1. smoke from the casino is terrible if you don't indulge yourself
2. distance from town centre leaves you at the mercy of casino catering
3. the hotel seems popular with tour groups who seem oblivious to other hotel guests
Outside of those small issues the room was very comfortable and very roomy.

We stayed here for one night in July 2007, while on a Globus tour.
Upon check-in, we received coupons for two free drinks and two chip discounts at the casino. I don't know if everyone gets those or if that was just because we were with a tour group.
The hotel/casino is too far from town of Alice Springs to walk to and we were advised by our tour director to especially not walk near the riverbed after dark. There was some kind of complimentary hotel shuttle to downtown that ran a couple of times during the day.
There were several buildings of hotel rooms, all with outside entrances and corridors.
Our room was spacious. There was a separate bathtub and shower.
There was a very nice pool area outside with a large pool.
We ate breakfast at the hotel/casino compliments of the tour. There was a large breakfast buffet with lots of choices.
