My wife and I enjoyed a very large, clean room at a reasonable price. The continental breakfast was better than most and included make-your-own waffles. Just down the street is an excellent Italian restaurant, Garlic Mike's.

I hate to give such a crappy review to a place so value priced, but my wife and I travel to Montrose monthly and we had this Motel due to the fact it was on our corporate program. We did it for about 6 Months. One the male Owner is rediculious. The female is fine. She will do her best to take care of you for the price. The last straw came when we were in one of the west units and i stepped into the Bathroom and there was a scorpion. I also killed a Spider of some type. Needless to say..........We no longer stay here.

We were concerned after leaving a great stay in Ouray, that we wouldn't come close in Montrose. After reading some great reviews on the Black Canyon Motel, I tried booking online. They said there was nothing available for our dates. Upon arriving in town, we checked two other places, both of which were higher dollar chains. On a whim, I told my husband to pull in and we'd check to see if there was anything available. We were shown a wonderful 1st floor room that was clean, neat, included a microwave and mini-fridge (a first on this trip) and was just perfect for our needs. They offered bagels & cream cheese, make 'em yourself waffles, muffins, cereals, juice, milk & coffee rather than the usual donuts & coffee, neither of which I like.
The only possible negative was that the towels could use some softening up. They were quite rough and uncomfortable, especially on my sunburned shoulders.
Overall, we were very pleased with our service and will be back.

After reading the previous reviews, even though they were written some time ago, we made reservations to stay at the Black Canyon Motel. When given the key to our room, I opened the door to a strange odor, looked up to see the fire alarm hanging by the wires and walked out of the room back to the front desk, where the kind gentleman accepted my decline to spend the night. I might add there were others checking in who decided to stay. Why? I don't know, but I would like to see their reviews posted here.
