Great staff. Rooms are so-so.

The staff was pleasant and helpful, the lobby clean and bring, however the rooms...
While not dirty, there are serious maintenance issues that need to be handled. The bathroom knobs and fixtures we caked with enough dust for my friend and I to start cleaning it ourselves so that we didn't have to look at it. The hairdryer was caked with dust too.
Everything in general could have used a good wipedown (which we did) not filthy, but not clean either. This wasn't an expensive hotel, but for the money (about $100 a night) we could have stayed at a hostel and it might have been cleaner.
All this being said, there are no swanky or high end places to stay in Alice Springs. This might be about it, though if I do return I'll be looking for another place to stay.
There is internet access downstairs, and a place to store your luggage, if you're checking out earlier than you're leaving.
We stayed here so that we could take a day tour to see Uluru and Kata Tjuta (we used Emu Run, good prices, even better with HiYA card).
The highlight of the Aurora is the Red Ochre Grill. The food is delicious. You can of course book a table without being a guest, and if you make dinner reservations before 6pm, you'll receive a discount. Good deal.
There is another Aurora outside of town (Heavitree Gap) I have no clue about what this one if like, but it might be worth the research to find out.
Pictures coming soon!

We stayed at the Aurora for 2 nights, went off on a safari, then stayed one night. Rooms were clean and well appointed but nothing special. However, very fair for the price.
Reception staff were welcoming and always helpful.
20x series rooms are around a large open area with shaded seating and barbcue facilities (available free of charge to hotels guests ... bring your own matches/lighter though!)
Hotel is very centrally placed - you can walk through the hotel car park and attached restaurant into Todd Mall - the 'herat' of Alice.

A totally acceptable place to crash for a day before your tours begin. Right on the downtown mall. Nice lobby but the rest of the complex screams converted motel. Clean simple rooms with adequate air conditioning. Pool is small and suffers a shadow most of the day.

Great location with secure access through undercover carpark to Red Ochre Restaurant and the Todd Mall. My room was fine, if a bit cozy with a double bed and a single. Room was clean and was serviced everyday. Pool area was nice enough for this style of accommodation. One internet terminal in foyer was easy enough to get onto if required. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Good value overall.

We stayed at the Aurora for a night on our way to the Ayers Rock Resort and a night on our way back. Strangely, we had 2 very different experiences.
For the first night we were given a room on the 1st floor in the courtyard that surrounds the pool. The room was clean with good natural light with easy access to reception and the pool. 9/10. On our return, we were allocated a room at the back of the hotel, past the ongoing building works, on the 4th floor. The room was clean enough but it was a long way from either reception or the pool and the only natural light came from the French windows at the front of the room. 5/10.
The location of the hotel was great. You can access the Todd Mall via the hotel restaurant to the rear.
The best restaurant we found was called the Lane - delicious modern Australian fare (a welcome relief after too much fried food at the Ayers Rock Resort).
