Horrible rooms, discriminating, curt and unfriendly staff

My friend wanted very much to stay at this hotel, as he had stayed here in the past and liked the view of the ocean from the rooms. Unfortunately, one of the night representatives recorded our information wrong in the computer and listed only one room occupant instead of three. The night auditor refused to let my friend's fiance and myself up to our room, although we had three room keys and our luggage was already in the room, as we had been in the room earlier that evening. My friend had to call the Myrtle Beach police regarding this issue, due to the treatment from the staff. Although we finally got in our room, it was a horrible stay. The room smelled of mildew, it was unclean and none of the jucuzzis were working that night, although they told us on the phone that they were. Despite all the inconvience and appalling treatment from the staff, we did not get our money back-- not even after writing a letter to the CEO explaining the issue. This is by far the worst hotel that I have ever been in and I do not recommend it to anyone.

it was our first time in myrtle beach we booked our trip through a travel agent the hotel looked really nice on the internet but when we got our room we went in and were dissapointed very smelly and old looking they need to do some serious remodeling plus it was bike week we had no idea nothing against bikers but it was loud so dont believe everything you see on the internet its not always what it appears be careful

For years, my family has had a tradition of getting together for several days at Ocean Park in January. Each year we went, we watched the hotel continue to run down. January 2007 was our last time at Ocean Park. I give them 2 good comments: good rates, and good pools/jacuzzis (when they are clean).
But the negatives are far bigger. Note to Ocean Park: if you're going to run a beach hotel, I would highly recommend some maintenance. I'm not just a one-time customer complaining about 1 bad experience. I have stayed at Ocean Park somewhere around 4-6 different times. I have had enjoyable times every year, but not without negatives. Last year, our room had dirty bed sheets and it smelled horrible. Other "surprises" we have found are clogged sinks, clogged toilets, dirty toilets, dirty/moldy ceilings, wallpaper falling off the walls, doors in need of repair, and broken elevators, to name a few. They don't seem to care too much about cleanliness - the floors were pretty filthy. Pay attention to the negative reviews this hotel is getting! They miss out on many important things. While it's not the most dumpy hotel ever, I prefer well-kept properties. My bed last year was more like a rocking chair. In general, the whole place needs serious renovations if they plan on staying in business.
Like I said, January 2007 was my last time at Ocean Park. This year, we stayed at the Grand Atlantic resort. I highly recommend everyone check this out - it's 2 hotels south of Ocean Park. You pay a little more, but the facilities are much much cleaner and more maintained.
