Myself and my teenage daughter have just returned from a 'Xmas shopping weekend' in Brighton where we were based at the Queens Hotel. No complaints about decor, cleanliness or overall appearance. Temperature a bit on the warm side during the night and although believed had managed to turn down the radiators for the following night , didn't make any difference.
We stayed for a Friday & Saturday night; our room on the third floor, unfortunately opposite Spearmint Rhino, Po Na Na and a couple of bar's; Bedoin & Co Co - we couldnt get to sleep until after 4am in the morning due to the noise - very upsetting and frustrating when you are tired, but I dont suppose the Hotel can do much about it.
Breakfast was very nice; food of good quality and kept well stocked; sadly unable to take advantage of an evening meal in the hotel on Saturday evening as were told when we got down to the restaurant that the hotel were catering for a private party; therefore we had to venture out of the hotel for a take away, not really ideal for two vulnerable ladies, 'new' to the area. I choose the nearest Fish & Chip shop, as didn't particularly want to wander the streets, which were now heavily populated with potential clubbers, bar revellers and despondent Rugby fans.
In all honesty, I dont know whether I will stay here again, not unless I could be certain I would be getting a room with a 'quieter view' . I wonder whether these rooms are kept aside for those, like myself, who believe we have 'struck a deal' through booking through the Internet? I booked through Central Reservations and managed to save (allegedly) £141 of off the weekend; I actually paid £219.00 - if I had have paid £360.00 (the 'alleged' full cost of 2 nights stay) , I would have still been there, demanding a refund!

We booked the Queens Hotel based on its website for a romatic weekend stay. Kicking myself for not reading the reviews here thoroughly first!
Good points - huge room, huge bed, huge bath, modern, sleek furnishings in the room, although the lobby was a jarring mix of styles, not sure what the champagne bottle sculpture was all about! Good hearty breakfast, very friendly staff - one guy even went round all the tables letting people know they'd be closing the buffet in 10 minutes so no-one missed out on their last helping!
Bad points - no clock, fridge or minibar in the room. Shabby exterior of the hotel doesn't match the rooms, there was broken china and cigarette butts on the windowsills outside our room. Finally, as previous reviewers have mentioned, seaview rooms are close to the beach but EXTREMELY noisy. We stayed on the first floor, directly above a four-lane major road and also a pub, and got hardly any sleep due to the traffic noise throughout the night and drunks shouting until around 4 am.
We paid around 190 pounds for a one-night stay - given the problems I think 100 pounds would be steep! Stay away and spend your money on the De Vere Grand if you must stay on the seafront, or somewhere quieter in town!

So we checked in to the Queen's Hotel in Brighton last Saturday night b/c we were playing golf at the East Brighton Golf Club (great course -- btw)...and were hoping to see some of the city, do some shopping, and have a decent night's sleep before we played early Sunday morning. Well, the location of the Queens is great as others have said, close the lanes, boardwalk, etc. BUT--it is also close to three clubs that don't close until 3am! We were in room 112, on the first floor, facing the clubs. The walls were paper thin and we didn't sleep until about 430 am. The bass of the music was pulsating through our room. Once the club closed, it took about an hour for it to empty out and for the drunks to stop screaming outside.
The hotel claims this club just opened and there is nothing that they can do about it, but for £150/night (including a weak breakfast) it just was NOT worth it, and they didn't offer us any more than an "oh well, sorry about that". We are only 29, 30 years old, hardly fussy, but unless you are in Brighton for a wild night, do not stay at the Queens...and if you do, ask to be facing the water on a high floor and you should be away from the noise.
