Sleek rooms and friendly staff. I was there during Iceland Airwaves, so there was a cool mix of people. Near the action on Laugavegur, but a few blocks removed for a little more quiet.

I read the reviews before staying here which were too mixed to decide. The price (?54 a night) was too good to resist however. Especially given the location was right in the center. Sp we gave it a go.
This hotel is clean and modern and beats a hostel by far. Fussy travellers shouldn't find much to complain about except maybe room size, but it's european standard. I was travelling with a friend so wanted twin beds which we got, although you need to be good friends because there is about an inch gap between them. Basically a double slightly spearated.
The breakfast is nothing fancy but does the job. You won't get anything outside the hotel as there are few cafes providing anything in the mornings. Again, like much of Europe, breakfast is not an important meal.
Location wise, you are one block of the main street and in a good spot for wandering down to the harbour. There were some hotels down in the main square but they looked expensive. The main square, or center of town I guess was really ony a 5 minute walk anyway.
Reception staff were polite and helpful as everyone has said.
Downside was noise from the live music across the street. We were ther for a Friday and Saturday night. Luckily we went out to all hours but I could here the music loud and clear before we left. Possibly too drunk to notice when we got back, not sure, but we slept through it easy enough. But I was shocked at how loud and clear the music was. if you are an early to bed, early to rise type, seriously avoid this place on a weekend. It is also close to the local strip clubs so if you are a parent and worried about that sort of thing (pretty obvious signage), maybe steer clear also. It's not a red light district though so safety is certainly not a concern.

we went to iceland for a week and stayed at the klopp, the hotel was modern and very clean although the rooms were abit small at times, especially when the weather was bad that we couldnt leave the room! the staff were extremely helpful and all spoke great english. there was a mini bar in the room but unless your extremely wealthy dont go near it. we drank 4 small bottles of wine and 6 soft drinks from it and it cost us nearly £50 when checking out! there is a complimentary bus that collects you from the hotel to take you to the bus terminal for all trips which is very helpful you just have to advise the receptionist that you intend on getting it. this is the same for most hotels. the hotel location is excellent, you can walk to almost anywhere in the city. it is near bars, restaurants, cafes etc. the review i read about the 2 single duvets still stands, the double bed does have 2 single duvets which is abit weird and the pillows are too small and soft an di ended up with muscle strain in my neck for a few days. however this is no reflection on the hotel or staff as i have no complaints in relation to their service. we went to a bar called the dubliner, being irish i thought it would be great craic, it had a number of persons in it the evening i was there and they were singing republican songs, i was not amused as i dont go on holidays to be subjected to this type of behaviour as my partner and i are of different religions. i approached the staff in relation to this but they didnt want to know and did not ask the males to stop singing, needless to say i left the bar. so if your looking for a laugh in an irish bar i would recommend the celtic cross, at least in there your irish regardless of your religion.
