It was unfortunate that we did not do our homework before deciding on this hotel. One of the two rooms we were assigned to -- Room 708 -- had bed bugs and both the adults and a child who stayed in it later broke out in skin rash all over their bodies! Unfortunately the rashes appeared only after they returned to Singapore but the doctor whom they consulted confirmed the rashes were a reaction to bites from bed bugs. The rooms were also dirty and dusty, with the bed's headboard covered in a layer of dust. The cleaners obviously did not do their job 'cos we also found empty bottles under the bed, which actually had wheels and so would not have been too difficult for the cleaners to move and clean under it. And on the day that we checked in, the bathroom had a piece of used soap that was not disposed of! In another intriguing incident, we returned from a day's outing expecting our room to be cleaned, only to find it in the same state that we had left it. It also had a "Do Not Disturb" sign hanging from the door-knob even though we had not hung it there when we left in the morning! As it was evening then, the frontdesk said there was no housekeeping service available and so we had to put up with it until the next day! It was truly a memorable experience - but for all the wrong reasons!

I was staying in Perth City over Easter as part of Interhash, and although all the reviews were terrible I had no choice as all the reasonably priced places were full. I have stayed in Hotels in Africa, S.America and China etc.and this is the worst. More so as Perth is my home town, and people from overseas have this experience to take away with them. The first night we couldn't sleep for the rattling noise of the airconditioner. When I rang reception I was told there would be no maintenance person working over the weekend, so it would not be fixed! We slept with the window open, and hot. The shower curtain was mouldy and slimey from the bottom up about 15 centimetres. The entire stay there was a build up of hair against the wall in the bathroom, and it stayed there! I swear it was there from the previous occupants. The bench area where the kettle is was not cleaned at all! The maid pulled up the sheet and bedspread and it looked as though the bed was made, but upon pulling the bedclothes back the bottom sheet was just as I had got out of it. Not even an attempt to smooth it. Do not stay here.

I have to stay here as my work pays and books. Nothing has changed since the last time in particular the shoddy untrained, uncaring, staff devoid of uniform and seemingly doing just about every job on the ground floor. I cannot believe that the hotel management resd these reviews - and do absolutley nothing to address the issues!! - therefore stay elswhere!

I was absolutely disgusted with the short experience I had with this hotel. I say short bec?use I booked in, went up to my room and then immediately booked out. The whole building was dark and dirty and the staff uncaring and poorly turned out. The room itself stank of cigarettes. In an attempt to clear the smell I opened the window to find it dirty and without fly wire. The last straw was the bathroom. It was filthy. There was soap scum running the length of the shower and there was dark coloured grime in between the tiles. I would not have stepped foot in this shower. The toilet was also stained and looked as if it had not been cleaned in while. I recommend spending the extra $40 and going next door (Victoria Street) to Aaron's All Suite apartments as we did. We were struck by the friendliness of the staff and the room was clean, new and fresh and the roof top spa, a treat.

This hotel has a fabulous location but that is its only good point. The staff are untrained and often without uniforms. There is no effort to provide good service or guest security. Physically, the hotel is very run down. It is dirty inside and out and there seems to have been absolutely no attempt to update the hotel in the last 30 years. Spend your money elsewhere and let the hotel go out of business. Even a low room rate is not worth the terrible product.
