My room was larger than i expected for the price and location. Big windows which flood the large lounge and kitchen area with natural light which was excellent, opening window for fresh air also great. The apartment was a little 'lived in' with some stains on the carpet, scratches on the table etc but the overall size and cleanliness made up for it and i would definitely stay here next time i do a girls weekend away as the size of the room was really made for having a bunch of girls 'do drinks' before going out and i guess the small damage to the room is testament to this and only made it feel more comfortable !! The hotel having a spa (without having exorbitant room prices or being five miles out of the city ) was the deal clincher for me choosing it but i think it could have been cleaner, room for four maybe five at a squeeze and the jets on the lap pool were not working while i was there, which was disapointing. my shower cubicle was tiny - so tiny I found it hard to wash my hair because of the lack of space and i am only a size ten, 164 cm so if I had trouble I wouldnt recomend it to any persons of larger size. My bed was comfortable, kitchen well stocked with useful items. one elevator wasnt really an issue i never had to wait too long. location great - taxi rank close by and clubs a short stroll away. the couple doing the reception desk were friendly and helpful. I got an excellent rate by contacting the hotel direct and they beat the best offer i could find online. Overall i actually loved the room for the price and location.

We arrived in Melbourne at 8am and fortunately our room at the Manhattan was ready which was a godsend as we were all exhausted following a night flight from Singapore. The apartment was in a great location but for 4.5star accommodation @ $272 per night it didn't - for me - tick all the boxes. The corridors had a constant smell of smoke and the carpets were stained. For a family of four with 2 teenager girls, I had booked a 2-bed apartment but the twin room had no storage and was extremely small. Our double seemed to have the entire building's main drain pipe running through the wall and it sounded as though we were sleeping in a waterfall. The lounge only had 1 small 2-seater sofa and 1 chair. For a 'serviced apartment' we only had our beds made (not changed) on 2 occasions and the rooms were not cleaned or hoovered - not that we were messy clients. In the words of 'Location, Location's Phil and Kirsty' - it was a City Crash Pad and no more. The location is great and it is ideal for singles and young couples but I wouldn't recommend it to families.

I have stayed in lots and lots of places in Melbourne and this was probably the best out of all of them. To be honest right away, we came to Melbourne for a big party weekend. 16 of us came over to go to Summadayze on New Years Day and we stayed in 3 apartments. We arruved the morning of NYD and the guy on the front desk looked at us a little warily as we were all ready to party. My apartment (the first of the 3 we booked) was ready when we arrived at 11am - how much more can you ask? We had booked a 2 bedroom aptmt with a sofa bed and were automatically given a 3 bedroom apartment at no extra charge. The apartments are very large, we were on the 7th floor, with a huge balcony, 2 bathrooms, I was in the master bedroom which was enormous and had dramatic views of the MCG and tennis centre which through a side window were reflected off the huge wardrobe mirrors, with its own ensuite that included a spa bath! Our apartment was a traditional apartment, while our friends apartments on level 2 and 3 were the 'Manhattan' style and these are extremely cool if you like modern, funky stuff. Small balconies, but exposed brick and concrete - very different. Beds were INCREDIBLY comfortable - the blankets felt brand new. We were not the most well behaved house guests - there were 16 of us on 3 different floors and numerous visitors, and we kept going in and out of each others rooms and playing music all night, yet we did not receive a single complaint, hear anybody else in the hotel, or even see anybody on our floor. The front desk guy who was there the whole time was very relaxed and friendly - being young himself he knew exactly why we were there and that we were going to party, yet he was really helpful with taxis and bottleshops etc. The apartments were very well equipped - ours even had a laundry in the room and soap powder for the dishwasher! My only two complaints is that there are no stereos in the rooms (bring a radio adapter for your ipod) and there is only one lift for the entire hotel which can be a bit slow. Location is pretty good - would have liked to be a bit closer to flinders st station but the other Punt Hill flinders lane property is there for that. if you have a group of people I would highly recommend this place, ESPECIALLY for young groups having party weekends - bucks nights, girls weekends away etc etc - its a youthful place with a wicked vibe.

We stayed 3 nights at this property. Big spacious apartments with a great location. The warehoue/New York loft apartment feel is cool. We had one small issue & that was the dirty carpets....& I mean very dirty. From the minute you step into the reception & right through to the accommodation the carpets are dirty throughout. We really could not understand it....everything else was perfectly clean!

This is in response to Yenique from South Australia below (i was one of the 5 friends she mentioned). We indeed got an apartment for free because we didn't get a sofa bed which was a complete ACE for us! The apartments were spacious, clean and had all the convenience you would expect of a self-contained apartment. I liked the fact the toilet was separate from the bathroom and the bathroom was very spacious! This made it very convenient for 5 girls. The only thing i would complain about is the noise you hear early in the morning. Our main apartment overlooked Flinders Lane and so when workers start their shift the traffic on there can create plenty of noise, so bring earplugs or ask for a quieter apartment! Front desk and service were also very efficient and friendly and we could not expect more of them for the Free apartment. They were also happy to take care of our bags after check-out since we didn't have to leave till later that day. The jet pool was tiny so please don't expect too much here. The jets weren't strong and the pool/spa area probably needs a huge refurbishment but we were the only girls (3 of us) there when we visited and so were happy to just relax. The spa is warm and big enough to fit 3 people - good enough for us! So despite not being the best we were still extremely happy with our stay, especially since we nabbed such a massive bargain. Location was great and within easy walking distance to main shopping area. Also like to add that Flinders Lane have many famous restaurants, some of the best in Australia (flick through the Gourmet guide 2007 if you don't believe me). Or if you prefer to stay in like we did one night, they do organise food being sent to your very door with local takeaway shops and restaurants! Hope this adds a bit more information if your seriously considering this place =)
