Ontario 2008

Just returned from the Luna Palace in Mazatlan - Feb 27 2008
The hotel itself is older but clean - the pool area and beach was superb. We went all inclusive - if you consider going to this hotel DO NOT GO ALL INCLUSIVE!!
We were definitely misled as to the facilities - we were told that we had access to the sister hotel Oceana Palace - this was not true even though we paid extra for this perk - also, we were told that even though the buffet that was told to be at the hotel was unavailable to us but we had full access to the a la carte hotel restaurant at no extra charge but in fact we were given a very limited different menu and if we wanted access to the other menu we would have to pay more. This was very disappointing to us and when we approached the Signature rep we were told to take it up with our travel agency (Itravel 2000) as it was not their problem.
I would go back to this hotel - please keep in mind that it is one of the older hotels, clean a little worn but more than acceptable. The location is great with many restaurants and bars to choose from. The food and hospitality in the golden zone is one of the best my husband and I have ever been to and we have travelled for thirty years.
If you go there, please remember to go to the Purple Onion, Fat Fish and a little bar called Georges.
Weather was great!
I hope this review helps anyone who goes there - I would definitely go back to Mazatlan just wouldn't go all inclusive.

Just returned from a 10 day stay at the Luna Palace. Our 4th year their. Love the beach and pool area. very clean. did not do the all inclusive this year, so can not comment on hotel food. Front desk were wonderful. Staff around hotel very friendly, no problem. Great location for restaurants nearby. Hotel room was very clean. Beds comfortable and maid service excellent. The Luna Palace is a great place to stay in Mazatlan. Not a 5 star, but definitely a clean, safe, friendly and authentic mexico hotel. Loved it.

Stayed 6 nights at the Luna Palace. We didn't opt for the all inclusive and glad we didn't, the food and food service were all school cafeteria quality. However there are plenty of nearby resturants to choose from. Our room was clean enough. the maid service friendly (I tipped them 5 bucks a day and that may be why) My 3 boys loved the pool and beach area, but the ocean was too cold for me. All in all a 3 star enjoyable hotel for the money. Eat at Restuarant Costa Mainera for great seafood; and Villa Italiana if you get tired of Mexican. Breakfst across the street at the Purple Onio was always good as was another open air spot to the right and just a stones throw down the street past the souvineer vendors.
I wouldnt waste your time or money on the Stone Island tour; Rent your ATV or Jet skis on the beach instead. The canopy/tequila factory tour is first rate but expensive and the boys did enjoy that.

Overall our stay was alright. The hotel wasn't the greatest but we didn't stay much at the resort. The rooms themselves were great. We somehow got upgrated into a suit on the top floor so the view was amazing. We spent a lot of time just sitting on our balcony. After visiting the hotel site off of the Signature Vacations web site, we expected more from the hotel. We were quite dissapointed. There were no activities during the day. There was supposed to be spanish lessons, dancing lessons and more. Also, there was no nightly entertainment. Someone from the "activity" crew (whom I caught sleeping a few times) sent us to a hotel for a mexican fiesta and when we got there, there was nothing going on. Also, there was suppose to be non motorized sports, but they didn't have that either. The hotel only has a buffet. If you order from the menu, you had to pay more. There was supposed to be an a-la-carte restaurant, but it doesn't exist. The meals were very repetitive and everything seemed to taste the same. It didn't matter if you had the beef...or chicken... Least to say, we ate out a lot. We were careful with what we ate and drank so no one got sick. I'd return again to Mazatlan. There's still a lot I didn't see. I'm not sure if I'd stay at the same place again. It wasn't bad but I'm sure there are better places out there.
