We found the O Henry Hotel to be very welcoming, well run and well designed.
The lobby is particularly pleasant - an airy, wood-panelled room with lots of comfortable chairs. Our room was very well-equipped, with good quality toiletries, a CD player, and an excellent bed. A walk-in shower was a welcome change from the usual over-bath shower, though the pressure could have been higher.
Our only quibble was that the room was to be occupied by three people, one on a sofa bed. However, with the sofa bed out, there was virtually no free floor space. However, the staff offered to make up the bed at the last minute to minimise inconvenience.
In short, very good, but not quite excellent.

I was put up in their hotel while in town for an interview. WOW! It was one of the best hotels I have ever stayed. The room was perfect, clean, neat, exceptional amenities, quiet. The room had so much space, a separate bedroom from sitting room, gigantic bathroom w/ separate huge spa tub and shower. All aspects were beautiful and clean. The service was great all around. Internet worked great. Beautiful place in general. Food in the Green Valley Grill was excellent too. I didnt have to pay for the room and I saw it was pricey ($250/night) but worth it all the way if you can afford it!

Wow! I travel a lot, especially recently, in the United States and Europe. I stay in good to great hotels, so saying that the O. Henry is quite simply the best hotel I have ever stayed in is saying something! Where to start? The size, design, layout of the rooms is creative and thorough in ways that I have never seen elsewhere. Example: A separate shower stall. Two sinks: one high for shaving in the bathroom, one low with a rolling stool and a good makeup mirror in the dressing room space outside the bathroom. Enough hangers! More than enough drawers! Outlets everywhere! More than adequate lighting! Mattresses that don't wander away from the springs, and yes, contour bottom sheets. Standard room is larger and more commodius than a junior suite in any other hotel I've stayed in. A brand new Dell HD TV with more a broad choice of channels. Free internet in room and lobby. Breakfast included! With good stuff to eat! Green Valley Grill at the hotel offers gourmet creativity without silliness at a reasonable price. Staff is there in abundance and all give every evidence of being glad to be there -- even the chambermaids, who aren't afraid to ask if they can make up the room without kicking you out! New York Times at the door every morning -- so much for stereotypes about Southern provinciality! And not a single nuisance charge the whole week! I hope the O. Henry people read this review because there's only one way to close it: Well done, y'all! Thank yew sooo much!

At first sight of this attractive red-brick hotel with awnings over every little window and flags flying on the roof it made me glad to have a reservation there.
Parked in front of the hotel were a black London cab and a 1950's era NYC cab. Although I didn’t use their car service, seeing those cars added to the appeal of the hotel.
Check-in was welcoming and friendly. Indeed, every where I walked throughout the hotel the staff connected with smiles and hello’s that seemed sincere.
The front desk clerk noted the preferences in my reservation and added, “If for any reason you don’t like your room please let me know and I’ll change it.”
That’s the first time a front desk clerk has ever said that to me. She needn’t have worried. The room was perfect.
Room 722 was decorated in an array of greens, cream, and browns----with pewter-colored lamps on the night stands. A copy of O. Henry’s “The Gift of the Magi” was on a table next to the bed. There was a sofa, a coffee table, and a work desk.
A Dell flat screen tv came out of the armoire and swivelled on its base. Also in the armoire was a microwave oven and an empty mini-fridge.
The bath featured a black and white checkered tile floor with separate tub and shower. (Ok water pressure in the shower.)
My favorite feature in the room was the door to the bath that had a frosted glass window in it.
Outside the entrance to the bath was closet space, drawer space, and a separate vanity area with plenty of counter space.
Extra sheets and blankets were stored not in the closet, but in a drawer under the microwave.
The New York Times was delivered to my door.
Outside the room, the halls of the hotel were decorated with framed photographs of 1920's and 1930's era Greensboro. I loved the little bookcases filled with old books and the mismatched nostalgic furniture. A wooden park bench sat next to an old office chair on wheels-----very cute.
I used the free internet access to read my email, but could not send.
The main lobby looked like a movie set with its high ceiling, elegant wood-paneled walls, retro furniture, and old-fashioned rotary dial telephones. It looked like some guests were being served an English tea as a recording of light, airy classical music was being played.
The next morning, I arrived downstairs after breakfast service had closed. Coffee was still available in the lobby. When I asked about orange juice a phone call was made to the kitchen and out came a complimentary glass of fresh-squeezed OJ to go.
As I approached the elevator with my coffee and juice, a hotel employee said, “I see you have your hands full! Let me push those buttons for you.”
Gorgeous. Bravo. Well-done.

We stumbled across the O'Henry as we were planning a trip to High Point to furniture shop. We were trying to make a weekend get-away out of it and it was perect! It's located not too far off the main roadways and once inside you feel like you're in a little haven. I highly recommend dinner at the Green Valley Grille - it's a meal you will not want to miss. The food was spectacular, good selections on the wine list and service was friendly and prompt.
