I travel interstate frequently due to work. I stayed at this hotel because it was recommended, and close to where I needed to attend meetings. what a mistake.
The first room I was given was ok - it was one of the refurbished rooms; however it had an interconnecting door with the lounge chair pushed against it. As a woman travelling alone, I moved the lounge, and checked to make sure the doors couldn't be opened. well, they could be, and I was able to open the door through to the connecting room. Feeling unsafe I asked for another room. Apparently the only other room available was a one bedroom unit, which I had to take. I wasn't game enough to start looking for another hotel room, and also loose 2 nights of paid accommodation due to the cancellation policy. The one bedroom unit was disgusting. The carpert, walls, kitchen and lounge were filthy. All the doors had holes in them. The bathroom and broken tiles and was very mouldy. The TV had snow across all the channels, there was no clock radio.
Service was terrible, there was hardly ever anyone at reception. I attempted to leave a message for a collegue at reception, which was never delivered. Even though I travel regularly to Sydney I WOULD NEVER CONSIDER STAYING HERE AGAIN.

What a joke! Not a hotel but smelly, poorly serviced apartments

I'd read the good and bad reviews on this place, but took a chance anyway... Our experience was consistent with the 'bad' reviews. No reception (had to telephone a call centre to ultimately get access through the caretaker); a foul smelling fridge which tainted the room and anything in the fridge (which they wouldn't replace and their efforts to clean it were fruitless- they ultimately gave us less than 10% discount for the inconvenience); no garbage collection over 3 days in the height of a Sydney summer; and a dingy breakfast area which we ignored for a cafe down the street. This place is NOT a hotel and should NOT be advertised as such. We will not be returning. Shame - because the rooms are large and the location is good if you do not want a beachside hotel in Sydney.

This is an awful place. Just don't go there. The reception is never attended and when it is, the staff are hopeless. The "dining room" is deserted, with dirty dishes piled high with hardly any food available. It is minimalist to say the least. Rooms spacious but if you are in one of the non renovated rooms, they are not clean with an awful bathroom. Terrible pillows too. You need a key to get anywhere, even into the building so if you have no cellphone you can't get in as reception was never manned at any time when I was there. So if there are two of you and you only get one key, you are unable to come and go individually - trying to get an extra key is difficult when no one is there. Virtually no breakfast, no staff, no cleaning of rooms (they get done once a week, so you make your own bed and have the same towels for the duration). Awful place.

We have just returned from our stay at the hotel and, on the whole, it was a great place to have chosen:
1) A beautiful walk takes you through the Botanical Gardens to the Opera House - we did this on our 1st day and it was our 1st sight of Sydney!
2) Rooms are clean, very spacious (much better than staying in a hotel) and great value for money in a city which is pretty expensive to visit.
3) Staff (when available) are very friendly and helpful.
4) Good location for a quick walk or cheap taxi to the Central Business District.
However, when making your decision to stay here, you should be aware of the following issues we had (none of which would stop us from staying again):
1) The reception is not always manned (only between 7.30-10am). This meant that, even though we had informed them of our arrival time, there was no-one there to let us in. We had to call the Reservations Team (number provided on entry door) which is a real pain after our 20+ hour flight.
2) Checkout time is 10am and not later as stated on our reservation confirmations, however if you need to check out later or return to collect your luggage, this can easily be arranged.
3) The other members of our group were staying on the 1st floor and for several nights were disturbed at 2.30am by a couple arguing very loudly. The staff informed us that some occupants are private residents who had nothing to do with the hotel. A strongly worded letter resolved the issue but this should be borne in mind.
So, overall, we enjoyed our stay in the hotel and would definitely stay there again if we had the fortune to return to Sydney.

We stayed here in early January.
Before arriving, the property rang me and asked what time I would be arriving so I let them know (about 3.00pm). This is because the desk is only attended at certain times of the day.
When I got there no one was around and I couldn't get in. I called the central reservations number 3 times on my mobile to get them to contact the receptionist. It was 3 times because they kept hanging up on me.
Finally someone came down and let me in - she had been cleaning my room.
Beds were somewhat saggy but it was a large room at least.
Checking out was also a problem - desk was only attended from 7.30-10.30am. Could store baggage but had to come back at 3.00pm to get it cos that's when the desk was attended again. Flight didn't leave until 7.00pm and my companions had all this baggage they couldn't leave unattended. Needless to say, they just had to hang around the hotel doing nothing and go to the airport early.
I don't recommend this place if you need 24 hour check in and baggage collection.
Location was not bad.
