Stayed here quite some years ago. And it was good then. Now it appears to have had a recent refurb and it's really good. It's even better than it was.
Stayed in a one bedroom apartment, really spacious as always, nicely equipped full kitchen, new bed and other nice large screen high-def TV. The furniture was all new, and so comfy I fell asleep on the sofa. Like the artwork.
The location is good for the Kingston town centre, plenty of cafe's and restuarants and even a supermarket etc over the road.
Only annoyance (and it's a bit minor) is that I had heavy luggage and had to climb two sets of stairs to my aparment. And (and this was more major) - the pathways to each apartment are very dark at night - so it's nearly impossible to find which is yours. Some signs needed.
I didn't drive, but there is plenty of parking underneath.

I had a trip planned to Canberra and wanted to stay in the Kingston area. I booked a one-bedroom apartment for three nights, however upon arrival we were given a two-bedroom.
The rooms are very modern, newly rennovated & very very clean. We constantly saw cleaning ladies servicing rooms all day.
We had a plasma in the main bedroom in addition to the plasma in the lounge room. The rooms looked exactly as they had been portrayed on the hotel website (I even thought we may have been in the exact same room until I got a sneak peak of another room that was being cleaned & also looked identical).
The parking is free & there are plenty of spare parks to use.
The location perfect as just across the road there are great restaurants & bars which is very convenient for not needing to drive after a few drinks. It is also around a 10 minute walk to Lake Burley Griffin.
We paid $190 per night calling the hotel directly and getting a better deal, which I think is great value as you get a bedroom, living area +dining & a fully equipped kitchen.
Gardens in the hotel were beautiful & the staff were always pleasant and greeted each time we walked past them
The only couple of negatives (which are only minor) are as follows:
- We were on the top floor & had to climb a couple of flights of stairs as there are no lifts this high. Did not bother us, but might not be good for the mobile impaired.
- Beds were double bed, and we are used to sleeping in a queen or king so it felt a little small for us.
Overall if I ever head back to Canberra I would most definitely stay at the Griffin Hotel again, and would also recommend it to my friends.

We stayed in the Griffin for two nights at the end of a four day stay. Given what other reviewers has said, it appears that we were lucky on the room front, as it appeared to be brand new with some nice mod cons (lcd tv in the master bedroom, good sized plasma in the main room, well-equipped kitchen). We had a three b-r unit for the five of us.
The location was very good: just across the street from the Kingston shops and restaurants.
The only downside that I recall was that the internet connection, while reliable and fast, was very expensive.

Good location right across the road from all the Kingston shops, restaurants and supermarket. Ten minute walk from Manuka restaurants, McDonalds and Coles supermarket which is open 24h.
Underground parking.
Clean. Serviced daily.
Kitchen just fine though could use just a few more plates, bowls etc. than were provided.
TV channel selection extremely poor and - in our apt. at least - reception hopeless. Complained but problem was not resolved during the 10 days we were there.
There's a coin operated laundromat on the ground floor which is handy but it is pretty expensive in comparison to other laundromats. Shame, because, at least in our apt., there was a laundry room, and washer dryer could have been installed there.
We had a two bedroom for a pretty good corp rate of Aust.$165. However, the place is being refurbished and those prices will soon look like a bargain compared to what they charge for the redone apartments! More than double....!
Impossible to set water temperature properly in the shower. Ran hot or cold without any regard to tap setting or to simultaneous water use in kitchen or by other patrons in other rooms. (Tested this by showering - uncomfortably - during all sorts of unGodly hours in addition to regular hours.)
Jacuzzi/bath/shower was VERY high. So much so that older people or those with slight disabilities would not be able to get in or out at all or would have considerable difficulties doing so.
If jacuzzi was turned on the motor made a hell of a racket throughout the apt.

The Griffin Apartments are absolutely fantastic. Clean, modern, and large. My one-bedder came with a lounge, bedroom, bathroom, kitchen. There were 2 TVs, a fridge, microwave, dishwasher, oven. The apartment was only about $130 a night (on a corporate rate).
On the minus side ... the gym was under-equipped, parking was awkward (had to bring my car out of the parking, before I could checkout - else I couldn't get to the car). Location is pretty good (Kingston is quite happening), but the Civic is a better location.
