8 of us stayed in the hotel on 13/14 May as we were in Manchester for the UEFA Cup Final. From the hotel website the place looked nice, however, I was a bit concerned by the cheapness of a city centre hotel (?65 per room per night B&B).
The hotel cannot be any more centrally located - in the heart of Manchester city centre and opposite Picadilly Gardens. It is a basic hotel and you definately get what you pay for. I would agree with most people & say that the hotel needs a wee revamp. A lick of paint/freshen up would do! Our rooms were all clean which is the main thing. They were basic though and did the job for a party of football fans. Everything in the room worked and other than being dated I really have no complaints.
Breakfast was very nice. Plenty of everything you need and the service was very good also. Staff were helpful and friendly. The bar is tiny & was staffed by restaurant staff. We arrived at 1.30am and they served some of our party all night!
All in all the hotel is fine. I would go back if I could not find anything else but that's personal choice. One thing I will commend the hotel for was their helpfulness and willingness to give us shelter when the idiotic riots broke out! They locked us in the hotel so we were all safe. This I was HIGHLY impressed with as we'd checked out that morning & they were under no obligation to help us. VERY VERY commendable!

We also stayed at the Hotel after going to see Bon Jovi at the City of Manchester Stadium.
We had mixed feelings on our room, although the bed was comfortable and we slept well the room was small and the decoration out of date. The shower needed replacing and bath was blocked. We felt like it could do with a refurb.
The service was very good - reception staff were knowledgeable and helpful and the staff at breakfast were quick and helpful.
The hotel had no parking facillities so we parked closeby at an NCP carpark - although expensive (?15.50 overnight) for us, it is as expected in London.
The location was excellent, right in the middle of bars, shops and restaurants (although not many open late on a Sunday!) and the buses were ?1 each just outside the hotel. It was 25 mins walk back from the stadium and we felt safe.
Breakfast was good you could have a full english or continental, although the coffee tasted odd...perhaps not Nescafe!
Overall we would recommend the hotel based on location and service, and the standard of hotel is what you would expect for the price in London.

My sister and I wanted a good value hotel when we came to Manchester for the Leonard Cohen concert. We were arriving at the National Express terminus and the Gardens is a short walk away. We also wanted a convenient location and the fact that we could walk back from the Opera House to the hotel along main thoroughfares was a plus point. Our room was basic but not small with windows into a central well - very quiet except for the rain! The beds were clean & comfortable, there was instant hot water and the hospitality tray had a teapot and biscuits. Just what a couple of seniors like! Full English breakfast was included in the tariff and we could also help ourselves to the usual items. I'll definitely book again when I'm thinking of spending a few days in Manchester.

Stayed over at the Garden Hotel as visiting Manchester to see Bon Jovi on Sunday 22 June. The Hotel is located minutes walk from the Station, and was very easy to find, its a straight walk. The place looked fine on our arrival, the staff were friendly, when we got to our room was a bit dissapointed as it was really small and claustraphobic, also very hot, on opening the window it was over the conservatory roof and overlooking buildings, but we didnt mind as we were only there for one night. This place is in a great location for the shops and bars and I would recommend it if only for this! On our return from the gig, we went to the bar, which is quite small, but the service from the Bar Man on duty was good and he was very friendly, and we had a good laugh with other residents who returned from the concert. The big down point for us was to be woken at 8.30 a.m. (bit hungover) to hear a siren going off in our room, i nearly fell out of bed, it wa so loud, it was the fire alarm, we didnt know if it was a false alarm so proceeded with great difficulty to get dressed, in a panic, until the alarm ceased, and it was false, we did not receive any apology as I think everyone thought it was quite amusing, even me as i fell on the bed tangled up with my jumper looking for my boots, good job it wasnt a real fire or I doubt id be writing this now! lol We will definately stay there again even after all of this as the location is great, we didnt sample the food but i can vouch for the wine being pretty good!!!!

we stayed here basically because there were no other city centre hotels avaliable in our price range for the dates we wanted to book on. we wanted a hotel close to manchester city stadium but were advised to stay in the city centre and walk. this hotel is ideal for those who are arriving in manchester by train. get the train to manchester picadilly and on exit leave the station signposted picadilly. if u look up the street u will see a white building with a red illuminated 'hotel' sign. this is the hotel so it is literally a 2 min walk. we didnt realise just how close it would be to the city centre. just opposite the hotel is the ;gardens' with alot of cafe's and resturants. just behind this is a main bus and tram station. if u walk past the gardens u are in the main shoping district (again a 5 min walk from the hotel) we fancied going to the traffod centre for shopping so we got the bus opposite the hotel it only took 20mins. the walk to manchester city stadium is well lit and via main roads so felt very safe at night walking back after the gig. it was about a 30mins walk. the hotel itself was on a par with an older style travel lodge. yes the rooms were small but were all ensuite cleaned daily and had tea and coffee making facilities. we didnt have the optional added breakfast as there is a weatherspoons next door where the breakfast is half the price. i would recommec this hotel for anyone wanting a convienent hotel in the city centre with good transport links and not too highly priced.
