This hotel's best quality is its friendly staff.
The rooms are nice, the bathrooms too.
If breakfast is not included in the stay, don't bother to pay the extra 16CHF for the Crazy Cow buffet. Instead, head up the street towards the University or down to Central for a Starbucks coffee.

the hotel is an okay 3-star hotel in a relatively central location. i stayed there for 4 nights in June - a small room with a decent queen size bed and not much other space. there was no AC so i opened the windows for some fresh air, having the light curtains stretched throughout. well, a whole flee of bugs entered the room and there was no way they were leaving. some of those bugs were huge! given the small room space, they were basically circling around the bed. i went to the reception to ask for a bug spray - they looked at me like i was crazy, gave me 'some' spray, i went back and sprayed the bugs - too bad the spray was NOT effective! i ended up no sleeping that night... for this price, i would have expected AT LEAST window screens!!!!!
don't ruin your stay - avoid this place!

This hotel is one of the cheaper places to stay in Zurich. It is very close to Zurich Main Station, and you can walk down to the water and shops in very little time (

I stayed at Hotel Leoneck for 2 nights and enjoyed my stay. I found the staff to be quite friendly and the hotel to be very close to everything. Note: if you are coming from the station with suitcases, it is up quite a big hill!... it is easily walk-able though and only takes about 10 minutes.
I was surprised to find my room to be of quite a big size as I had heard all the rooms in Zurich were tiny. I had plenty of space for my suitcase and to spreadout! The bathroom was much smaller, but completely adequate.
One problem I had was that the trams were quite noisy until late at night and early in the morning. My room wasn't even at the front of the hotel and I found the noise fairly bad. Earplugs did help though and I was able to sleep.

Everyone has commented about the cow theme. It's nice that this hotel has done something a little different to have some character.
The Leoneck is a great bargain for Zurich. It is minutes walking or by metro (1 stops from the center and 2 from the railway station). It's just up a small hill out of the hubbub. In the day, I could hear birds chirping outside my window. The room had big windows. it was spotless, the bathroom was big, the bed was comfy. It had a safe, but no mini-bar. Breakfast wasn't too expensive (16 CHF) for Zurich, but a bit on the meager side. The front desk staff were patient and helpful. I'd like to see a bigger TV in the room.
